SHELL LAKE, Wis. (NWN) — Authorities in Washburn County advise of scam calls that claim to be from sheriff’s deputies.
The Spooner Police Department and Washburn County Sheriff’s Office have taken reports of scammers claiming to be deputies or sergeants and requesting money from residents. These are scam calls and police will never demand payment over the phone.
Local authorities remind people to never give out personal information or banking info.
