MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — At the Capitol, Senate Democrats are patiently waiting for the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee to deliver a budget they can approve.
On WISN’s ‘UpFront,’ Milwaukee Democrat LaTonya Johnson says Republicans need to come to the negotiating table and work with them.
“We know that we’re not going to get everything that we want. The whole objective is to make sure that our voices are at that table and we get something,” Johnson said.
With two key Republicans in the Senate signaling no votes, Republican leaders would need assistance from Democrats to get the budget passed by the end of the fiscal year Monday.
The JFC met late Friday night to approve some budget items, but much more needs to be completed before it can come to the floor for a vote.
