(Arlington, TX) — The Texas Rangers completed a sweep of the Brewers Thursday afternoon with a 6-3 win. Milwaukee opened the game with back-to-back homers from Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio. Texas took the lead for good with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. Freddy Peralta took the loss. Jake Burger pounded a pair of home runs for the Rangers. The struggling Brewers have lost 14-of-25 games since August 16th. They are off Thursday, then start a series at home against the Cardinals.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Zach Neto hit a two-run homer, Mike Trout drove in two runs and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Minnesota Twins 4-3. Trout’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning brought home Bryce Teodosio to give the Angels a 4-3 lead. Teodosio tripled off the top of the center-field wall, over the head of James Outman. Trout also hit an RBI single in the third and scored on Neto’s homer off starter Taj Bradley to put Los Angeles ahead 3-1. Byron Buxton tied it with a two-run homer in the sixth. Outman also homered, doubled and made a pair of leaping catches for the Twins. But they fell to 64-82 and were assured their first losing record since 2022.
(Green Bay, WI) — Linebacker Micah Parsons and five other Packers have been listed as “questionable” for the team’s home game against the Washington Commanders. Parsons played 29 snaps in the opener against the Lions and was effective, producing one sack and three quarterback pressures. The other players on the injury list are cornerback Nate Hobbs, right tackle Zack Tom, left guard Aaron Banks, safety Zayne Anderson, and cornerback Bo Melton. Green Bay is a three-and-a-half-point favorite to win tonight’s (Thursday’s) game.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson has signed a contract extension as he continues his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament that is delaying the start of his season. The Packers haven’t disclosed terms. ESPN reported that Watson agreed to a one-year, $13.25 million extension on a deal that would run through 2026. Watson tore the ACL in his right knee during the Packers’ 2024 regular-season finale. The 26-year-old has been the Packers’ top deep threat ever since they selected him out of North Dakota State in the second round of the 2022 draft.
EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings linebacker Blake Cashman will miss several weeks with a hamstring injury. He suffered the injury while chasing Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams during the season-opening win over the Bears. Cashman pulled up limping late in the third quarter and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said Wednesday that kickoff returner Ty Chandler will also miss multiple weeks with a knee injury. Cashman led the Vikings with 111 tackles last season and wears the green dot for pre-snap communication. Ninth-year veteran Eric Wilson will take over for Cashman.
(Tuscaloosa, AL) — The Alabama Crimson Tide has been set as a 21-and-a-half-point favorite in Saturday’s game against Wisconsin. The showdown in SEC territory is the first of six games against teams currently ranked in the AP Top 25 poll. The Badgers carry a 2-and-0 record after wins over Miami of Ohio and Middle Tennessee. Bama is 1-and-1 after starting the season with an upset loss against Florida State, followed by an easy victory over Louisiana-Monroe. The Tide are ranked fourth by ESPN.
(Milwaukee, WI) — The Bucks have signed guard Cormac Ryan to a one-year contract. Ryan played 37 games for the Oklahoma City Blue in the NBA G-League last season. He averaged 12 points per game. Playing for Milwaukee in the NBA 2025 Summer League, he also averaged about 12 points per game. Cormac played his college ball at North Carolina.
TOKYO (AP) — Noah Lyles and Kenny Bednarek set the stage for what could be the best legit sprint rivalry the sport of track has seen in decades with a message-sending staredown, then the two-handed shove that followed, then the trash talk that came after that. Their next showdown: track and field world championships in Tokyo. The championships start Saturday and the 200-meter final, which will bring a likely rematch between Lyles and Bednarek, is scheduled for September 19.
