Star 97 WAQE Sports Headlines

(San Antonio, TX) — The slump continues for the Milwaukee Bucks. They lost for the fourth time in five games Thursday night, 119-101, in San Antonio. A huge third period put the Spurs on top by 37, and starters for both teams hit the bench. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks’ scoring with 21 despite playing only 22 minutes. Milwaukee is back in action Monday at Atlanta against the Hawks.

(Chicago, IL) — Marquette finds itself in the unusual position of being the underdog for a game at DePaul tonight (Friday). The Golden Eagles have won the last six games between the two Big East programs. The Blue Demons are known for creating turnovers on defense and limiting teams in the paint. Their scoring is led by C-J Gunn, who averages 13-and-a-half points per game.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Mark Scheifele had a goal and three assists, Jonathan Toews scored for the fourth consecutive game and the Winnipeg Jets beat the Minnesota Wild 6-2. Toews also had an assist, Gabriel Vilardi and Josh Morrissey each had a goal and an assist, and Tanner Pearson and Logan Stanley scored as Winnipeg tied its season high for goals. Connor Hellebuyck made 32 saves as the Jets won their fourth straight following an 11-game losing streak. Winnipeg is 9-1-1 in its past 11 games against the Wild, including six straight wins in Minnesota. Danila Yurov and Marcus Johansson scored for the Wild, who are 1-3-2 in their last six games.

(Miami, FL) — Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has interviewed to be the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Ten coaches are candidates for the important job, but Hafley is thought to be the frontrunner. Hafley and Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan worked together in Green Bay. The Packers’ defense has been strong under Hafley’s leadership, although it dropped off after edge rusher Micah Parsons was injured.

(Milwaukee, WI) — The Brewers have signed 22 international prospects in the 2026 period, and three of those were ranked among the top 50. Milwaukee had a little over seven-point-three million dollars to spend. It has signed quality prospects like Jackson Chourio in the past. Three players – shortstops Ricky Moneys, Diego Frontado, and Jose Rodriguez – all received deals worth more than one million dollars.
