(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Bucks were down by 20 points at halftime and were never really in Thursday night’s 128-96 defeat. It was Milwaukee’s 10th loss in the last 12 games. Head coach Doc Rivers emptied the bench as the record dropped to 28-and-41. Guard Ryan Rollins led the scoring with 15 points. The next stop for the Bucks is Saturday night in Phoenix against the Suns.
(Portland, OR) — The High Point Panthers scored a major first-round upset in the NCAA tournament by edging Wisconsin 83-82 Thursday afternoon. High Point became the fourth 12 seed to send a Badger men’s basketball team home. The winning points came on a layup with 11 seconds left. The Panthers were a 10-and-a-half-point underdog. Nick Boyd led UW scoring with 27 points, and John Blackwell had 22.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Connor Bedard scored a goal and defenseman Alex Vlasic made a game-saving stop as time ran out as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1 to snap the NHL’s longest active point streak for one team against another. Ilya Mikheyev also scored and Spencer Knight made 28 saves for the Blackhawks, who were 0-18-1 in their last 19 games against Minnesota. Chicago’s last victory over the Wild was on Dec. 15, 2019. Nico Sturm scored for the Wild and Jesper Wallstedt stopped 24 shots.
(Phoenix, AZ) — The Brewers made significant roster cuts Thursday by sending last year’s starting centerfielder, Blake Perkins, and a potential member of the starting staff, Logan Henderson, to the minors. Tyler Black and Cooper Pratt were also sent down. The moves indicate that outfielder Brandon Lockridge has earned a spot on the Opening Day roster. Currently, there are 34 players remaining in major league camp.
(Green Bay, WI) — The Packers have added a former quarterbacks coach for the Patriots as an offensive assistant. The NFL Network reported the hiring of T-C McCartney Thursday. The 36-year-old McCartney coached first-round pick and quarterback Drake Maye in the 2024 NFL season. He has served as an assistant for multiple franchises since 2014.
EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms on a new contract with quarterback Carson Wentz to bring back the 11th-year veteran for more depth after a problematic season at the vital position. Wentz started five games in 2025 after J.J. McCarthy was sidelined by a sprained ankle. Wentz passed for 1,216 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions before needing surgery on a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder. The Vikings already signed Kyler Murray to challenge McCarthy. Wentz extended his NFL record last year by making the Vikings the sixth different team in six seasons he started a game for.
