The Chicago Bears visit the Minnesota Vikings in a rematch of the season opener won by the Vikings in quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s debut. The Bears have won six of their last seven games behind improving quarterback Caleb Williams and matched their best nine-game start at 6-3 since the 2018 team that won the NFC North. Williams has only four turnovers this season. The six teams the Bears have beaten currently have a combined record of 15-41-1. The Vikings are 4-5 this season and 1-3 at home. McCarthy has seven turnovers in four games including at least one interception in each.

It’s a homecoming for Terrapins coach Buzz Williams, who led the Marquette program for seven seasons ending in 2014. Maryland players are still getting to know each other. (Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin men’s basketball program lost a potentially steady hand from the bench when transfer forward Elijah Gray was dismissed. One freshman is performing well enough to fill the void. Will Garlock is averaging almost 12 minutes per game and already showing good court vision with an average of 2.3 assists. Badger of Honor-dot-com reports Garlock, Hayden Jones, and Aleksas Bieliauskas – all freshmen – are already playing important minutes. Garlock, a seven-footer, has shown the coaches he can rebound, pass, defend the rim, and give Wisconsin quality performances when needed.
Two-way star Shohei Ohtani won his fourth MVP award in a unanimous vote for the National League honor and Aaron Judge earned the American League accolade for the third time. Ohtani won a MVP for the third straight year, his second in the NL with the Los Angeles Dodgers after two in the AL with the Los Angeles Angels. All four have been unanimous. Judge became the New York Yankees’ fourth three-time winner, edging Seattle’s Cal Raleigh with 17 first-place votes to 13 for the switch-hitting catcher. The vote was the closest for an MVP since the Angels’ Mike Trout topped Houston’s Alex Bregman by 17-13 in 2019.
