ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Byron Buxton hit two home runs including a second-straight leadoff homer, Bailey Ober threw six innings with five strikeouts and two hits, and the Minnesota Twins beat the Texas Rangers 4-0. The Twins outhit the Rangers 10-3, with Buxton, Trevor Larnach, Royce Lewis, Edouard Julien and Christian Vázquez each recording two hits. Ober tied a season-low in hits allowed and did not allow a run for the first time this year. His last scoreless outing was Sept. 7, 2024, against Kansas City. Buxton’s 10th leadoff home run of the season followed his leadoff homer in a 4-2 loss to the Rangers on Wednesday.
(Milwaukee, WI) — The Brewers close out the regular season with a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds at home. Even though they clinched the division title some time ago, there’s still something on the line. Milwaukee needs one victory or one Phillies loss this weekend to hold the best record in baseball. That would mean a home-field advantage. Quinn Priester starts tonight’s (Friday’s) game against the Reds.

(Green Bay, WI) — Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer tells reporters his team is good enough to beat Green Bay even without wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and left guard Tyler Booker. ESPN is reporting Schottenheimer’s comment after injuries to the two starters. The Packers are a one-touchdown favorite. The Dallas defense is giving up almost 31 points a game and ranks 30th in the NFL against the pass, 17th against the run. Green Bay needs a bounce-back game desperately after being ambushed by the Cleveland Browns 13-10.
FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Kenny Clark is psyched for his reunion with the Green Bay Packers as his former team visits the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. Clark is something of an afterthought after getting traded in the deal that sent star pass rusher Micah Parsons to Green Bay. All the talk is Parsons’ return to the home of the Cowboys. But Clark was in Green Bay more than twice as long as Parsons was with the Cowboys. There are plenty of emotions for him, too. Clark admits it might be hard for him to decide which former teammate to swap jerseys with after the game.

The Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers will play the NFL’s first regular-season game in Ireland when the two teams meet at Croke Park in Dublin. The Steelers have deep ties to Ireland. The Rooney family, which has owned the club since its inception more than 90 years ago, traces its roots to Newry in Northern Ireland. Both teams come in with 2-1 records. Minnesota blew out Cincinnati last week thanks to an opportunistic defense and solid play by backup quarterback Carson Wentz. Pittsburgh held off New England last week but knows it needs to play better going forward.
Pregame at 7:30am. Kickoff at 8:30am on 99.1FM.
(Milwaukee, WI) — One NBA analyst ranks the Bucks’ lineup 23rd-best in the NBA. Brett Siegel of Clutch Points says the team is just one injury to Giannis Antetokounmpo away from being the worst team in the league. At the same time, Siegel says Milwaukee has a chance to win the Eastern Conference “because Antetokounmpo is just that good.” The Bucks are depending on trade acquisition Myles Turner to give Antetokounmpo the support he needs. Siegel says Turner may not be that big of an upgrade over Brook Lopez.
(Madison, WI) — It was probably true at the start of the season, but four weeks in a 2-and-2 record has Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell on the hot seat, officially. NBC national insider Nicole Auerbach acknowledges the coach’s 25-million-dollar buyout as an obstacle to making a change. The Football Power Index Poll from ESPN projects the Badgers to finish the current season with a record of 4-and-8. Wisconsin is 14-and-15 under Fickell’s leadership, 8-and-11 in the Big Ten, and only 2-and-7 in its last nine games.
