(Milwaukee, WI) — Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz knocked in a pair of runs in the eighth inning to break a tie and beat the Brewers 8-6 Sunday. The sweep of the weekend series was the first for Washington in 15 years – the first time it happened in Milwaukee in 20 years. Brice Turang pounded two homers, and Gary Sanchez and Jake Bauers also went deep. Angel Zerpa took the loss in relief. The Brewers will take today (Monday) off, then try to end a five-game losing streak when Toronto visits American Family Field.

TORONTO (AP) — Tristan Gray hit a three-run home run, Kody Clemens added a solo blast and the Minnesota Twins beat the Toronto Blue Jays 8-2. Taj Bradley allowed one run and five hits in five innings to win his third straight start as the Twins took two of three from Toronto, bouncing back after failing to hold a 4-0 lead in Friday’s opener. Minnesota has won six of seven. Bradley’s ERA rose from 1.08 to 1.25. He walked four and struck out seven. Gray homered in the second, his second, and Clemens connected in a five-run third, his second.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The Bucks dropped the NBA season finale in Philadelphia Sunday, 126-106. After the game, ESPN reported that soon-to-be Hall of Fame coach Doc Rivers will resign. Cormac Ryan’s 22 points led Milwaukee in scoring. AJ Green set a Bucks season record when he connected on five 3-pointers, giving him 232. Ray Allen held the previous mark with 229.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Giannis Antetokounmpo said it was “disrespectful” for Milwaukee to bench him over the final weeks of the season while he said he was healthy enough to play. His comments Sunday night were a stinging rebuke of the franchise as he enters a stay-or-leave offseason. Antetokounmpo said after a season-ending loss to Philadelphia that he learned that he had no control over his playing status as the Bucks limped to the finish. The two-time MVP led Milwaukee to its first title in half a century in 2021. But the Bucks haven’t won a playoff series since 2022.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves rested almost all their regulars for the playoffs during a 132-126 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, as franchise icon Kevin Garnett made a special appearance for fan appreciation night in the regular-season finale. The main attraction was Garnett’s first visit to Target Center in eight years, with the Timberwolves locked into the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference and the Pelicans long ago eliminated. Minnesota will face Denver in a first-round series starting Saturday. Jeremiah Fears scored 36 points and Derik Queen had 30 points with a career-high 22 rebounds for the Pelicans.

(Madison, WI) — University of Wisconsin athletic director Chris McIntosh is stepping down after 12 years in Madison. He became AD in July 2021. The Sports Business Journal reports McIntosh will become the deputy commissioner for strategy at the Big Ten Conference. He played college football for the Badgers and was drafted by the NFL Seattle Seahawks in 2000. Deputy athletic director and football general manager Marcus Sedberry is expected to take the position on an interim basis.

(Las Vegas, NV) — The Wisconsin men’s hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to Denver Saturday, finishing second in the NCAA Frozen Four. The Badgers jumped on top when Vasily Zelenov scored. The lead held until midway through the final period. The Pioneers scored the winning goal with less than a minute remaining. The UW defense was dominating through much of the game, allowing only 15 shots on goal – a tie for the fewest in any NCAA championship game. Zelenov and team captain Ben Dexheimer were named to the Frozen Four All-Tournament Team.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Rory McIlroy has joined more elite company at the Masters. He pulled away with a pair of birdies around Amen Corner and, as usual, saved a little drama for the end before taking his place in Augusta National history as only the fourth back-to-back champion. McIlroy seized control for good with a bold shot over Rae’s Creek to 7 feet for birdie on the par-3 12th. Then he blistered a 350-yard drive on the par-5 13th that set up another birdie. There were a few dicey moments, but he shot a 1-under 71 to for a one-shot victory to join Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods as repeat winners.
