(Pittsburgh, PA) — First, the Pirates swept a Saturday doubleheader, then swept the weekend series with a one-sided 14-5 game Sunday. The Brewers never led and watched Pittsburgh score 10 times in the bottom of the fourth. Brice Turang’s 14th home run capped a three-run rally in the eighth. Robert Gasser took the loss in the last game before the break for the 2026 All-Star Game.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Trevor Larnach homered and drove in two runs, Ryan Jeffers added a two-run double and the Minnesota Twins beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-2 Sunday and have won eight of their last nine series heading into the All-Star break. Larnach’s single in the third inning scored Luke Keaschall, tying the game at 1. Jeffers followed with a double that knocked in Ryan Kreidler and Larnach, extending the lead to 3-1. Larnach added a 405-foot solo homer to right in the eighth inning, his seventh of the season, as the Twins won their fifth straight series. Minnesota starter Taj Bradley (9-3) worked seven innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts and a pair of walks.
(Milwaukee, WI) — Veteran guard Gary Trent Junior is coming back to Milwaukee after signing a four-year deal worth 64 million dollars. Trent averaged almost 10 points a game while playing with the Bucks over the last two years. Yahoo Sports reports he was gaining interest from several NBA teams before he was locked down. He will earn just over 15 million dollars in the first year of the deal after playing on two much smaller contracts previously.
(Green Bay, WI) — When different projections are unkind to the Green Bay Packers, the analysts almost always point to the offensive line. Dairyland Express-dot-com reports one media outlet ranks that unit 27th out of 30 NFL teams. It’s fair to question the players involved, but last season may not have been as bad as some onlookers think. More than two dozen quarterbacks were sacked more than Jordan Love. The Chicago Bears offensive line gets a lot of respect despite the fact that Caleb Williams ended up on his back quite often.
(Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin Badgers are still listed in the second division of the Big Ten Conference as the 2026 college football season approaches. ESPN’s Football Power Index ranks coach Luke Fickell’s team 11th in the Big Ten and 43rd nationally. The FPI doesn’t have a strong track record. Coming into last season, it ranked Texas number one and eventual national champion Indiana wasn’t even in the top 25.
LONDON (AP) — Top-ranked Jannik Sinner beat Alexander Zverev 6-7 (7), 7-6 (2), 6-3, 6-4 for his second consecutive Wimbledon title and fifth Grand Slam overall. Zverev appeared bothered by a knee issue after a slip to the grass on a key point in the third set. Sinner’s latest title came in his first tournament since a meltdown at the French Open. It was Sinner’s 10th straight victory over Zverev. Zverev was coming off his first Grand Slam title at the French Open. Linda Noskova beat Karolina Muchova in an all-Czech women’s final on Saturday for her first Grand Slam title.
EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France (AP) — Haeran Ryu has birdied the first hole of a playoff with Brooke Henderson to win the Evian Championship for a second straight major title in the space of three weeks. The South Korean golfer backed up her victory at the Women’s PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club on June 29. Ryu (level-par 71) and Henderson (7-under 64) finished on 19-under par for the week at Evian Golf Resort, with Henderson making three eagles. They included a hole-in-one at No. 8 and an eagle at No. 18 that got the 2022 champion into the playoff. They went back up No. 18, Henderson had to lay up after pulling her drive, and she wound up making par. Ryu, who shot 60 on Saturday for the lowest round at a major, rolled in a birdie putt from three feet for the win.
HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) — Ryan Blaney emerged from a three-wide battle on the final lap of overtime to cap a dominant victory in the weather-delayed NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta. Blaney won every stage of the race after starting on the pole, but the Team Penske Ford driver had to fight off challenges from Bubba Wallace and Christopher Hill, who finished second, on the final lap. Carson Hocevar and Ty Gibbs rounded out the top four. Wallace was penalized for passing below the double yellow lines and finished 29th instead of second. There was a delay of 3 hours, 9 minutes because of rain and lightning.

Rice Lake WI, July 11 – The Dirt Race Central.TV Street Stock Series made their second annual appearance Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway as the highlight event of the evening. Nick Traynor made the winning pass with just five laps to go to claim victory over a strong field of Street Stock drivers and win his first feature win of 2026 at the Rice Lake Speedway. Other winners on a steamy Saturday night at the track included Simon Wahlstrom, Mike Anderson, Ryan Olson and Blake Adams.
Traynor, still waiting on a motor for his own race car to start his season, jumped into the Herrman Farms #19j car that is slated to be driven by Jenna Herrman at some point in 2026. However, his unfamilarity with the car was not a problem as he found victory lane after a heated battle that saw three different drivers lead the twenty five lap feature at some point.
Cole Richards, who started on the pole position, grabbed the opening lap lead with Tommy Pogones and Traynor close behind. Pogones moved to the outside lane on the track and found success as on lap four he drove around Richards and moved into the top spot. Numerous yellow flags would plague this event with many stoppages for mostly one car spins as the drivers really pushed their limits on this night on a fast race track.
Pogones continued to lead as the field slogged through two more slowdowns in the first ten laps of the race. Richards had not given up and continued to press Pogones on each restart as Pogones continued to work farther up on the track, contrary to most of the drivers. Traynor, Jeff Nowak and defending Little Dream Winner Kyle Dykhoff continued to lurk in the top five and with the numerous slowdowns, there was little gap between the leader and the top six drivers.
After continuing to hold off all challenges following the restarts, Pogones slipped a bit higher on the track following a lap nine restart and Richards was right there to drive under him and retake the lead. After that, the longest green flag period of the entire race saw Richards continuing to hold the point with Cody Kummer now joining those drivers fighting for top five spots.
Justin Vogel was putting on a show as he rode the cushion on the track, gradually making time toward the front of the field but that all ended on lap eighteen as he slowed and triggered the final, and significant yellow of the race.
Traynor had been waiting for a time when he could get to the outside lane and this yellow provided that chance and he jumped at it. Back on green for the last seven laps of the race, Traynor wasted little time as he drove past Richards one lap later to take over the lead. Kummer was now putting pressure on Richards for second while Dykhoff, who had slipped back to fifth, moved to the cushion also and had immediate success.
Traynor was in control and no one would challenge his over the final few laps as he drove home for the win. Dykhoff was flying on the outside and when Kummer and Richards got momentarily tied up coming off the final corner, Dykhoff drove past both of them to come home second with those two trailing him. Shawn Amundson came from fifteenth to complete the top five.
Wahlstrom became the top feature winner at the speedway as he won his seventh Pure Stock main of the year. However, it was not an easy victory as after losing a bumper in his heat race and being sent to the pits, he had to start thirteenth in the Pure Stock finale. He quickly made up for that however as he rushed to the front once the green flag dropped for the feature.
James Rahn took the early lead which included an incident where he got turned around by the second place driver that caused a yellow flag but Rahn was awarded his spot back. Wahlstrom was up to fifth by this point and continued his charge to the front.
He was able to get past Rahn for the lead on lap eight but soon after they tangled and Wahlstrom spun into the infield, triggering another yellow. This time Wahlstrom got his spot back and they led the final seven laps without a serious challenge to take the win. Austin Fencl survived a wild ride over one of the tractor tires that had been dragged on to the track during an incident to claim the runner up honors with Mark Barta, C.J. Wagner and George Richards completing the top five.
Mike Anderson won for the second time in 2026 as he topped the Modified feature race after a hard battle with Brady Uotinen for the win. Uotinen and Anderson shared the front row and Uotinen, going to the cushion, got the jump on Anderson and led the opening seven laps of the feature.
However, once racing settled in, Anderson got locked in to his groove and gradually began to close on Uotinen. Working the low line, Anderson drove under the Superior driver and claimed the top spot and then put some distance on the field, slowly but surely.
A yellow with twelve laps complete when top five runner Blake Adams broke and needed a wrecker assist off the track allowed Matt Leer to use the high side of the track and drive past Uotinen for the second spot.
However, Anderson was in no danger as he had built up a comfortable lead and would claim the win with Leer and Uotinen following him across the line.
Ryan Olson set a torrid pace as he led from start to finish to claim his second Super Stock feature win at the track in 2026. He made perhaps the move of the night on the opening lap as after starting in the second row, he split the front running duo as they came down the front chute to complete the opening lap and found himself clean and clear in the lead.
After that he turned up the speed further and was able to put distance on the field. Shane Kisling came from the third row to move into second and tried to chase down the leader without success. Kisling ran a solid second for much of the race until suddenly slowing and pulling into the infield with just a handful of laps remaining. This turned the second spot over to Andrew Davis with Tucker Quinn moving into third.
A last lap yellow for a slowing driver set up a one lap sprint to the finish of the race. Olson got away cleanly at the start and then drove on for the win. Unfortunately for Davis, his start was not as good and Quinn was able to take away the second spot just before they crossed the line. Mickey Anderson and Andy Ladd both had their best runs of the year as they completed the top five finishers.
Adams’ luck was much better in the Midwest Modified class as he won his fifth feature race of the year in that division and moved ahead of the missing Nick Koehler as the win leader in that class. It was not an easy win however, as he was pressured by both David Baxter and Jake Stai before he could claim the win.
Travis Anderson took the initial lead and would run in front for the first two laps before Adams drove around him and took away the top spot. Baxter and Stai were hot on his heels though, with Baxter running the low line and Stai the cushion. The yellow flag got a workout in this event also, and in fact due to the number of slowdowns, the event was terminated two laps early.
But while they were racing, the top three put on a good show with Baxter particularly troublesome to Adams as he got his nose under Blake several times in the corners but just couldn’t quite get past. Adams was forced into a defensive posture to protect his advantage but he was careful not to give Baxter an opening and he raced on for the win with both Baxter and Stai close behind.
Next Saturday night, July 18th, the speedway will take the night off to allow everyone to enjoy the Barron County Fair. However, following that one week break, the action returns in a big way for the rest of July.
On July 25th, the Fastlane Super Stock Series will be on hand as they will be running their fourth point race of 2026. A large field of Super Stock drivers is expected for this event and with that class being the most wide open so far this year at the track, this night should feature some very unpredictable racing with no clear favorite. And as a bonus for the fans, for their regular admission price, a full program will also be held in the track’s other four divisions including the Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks.
Then, on July 28th, the race that everyone is waiting for will be held. The thirty second annual St. Croix Casino Street Stock Little Dream race will take center stage as the best Street Stock drivers in all of WISSOTA will battle it out for what is hoped to be another record first place prize, somewhere in the neighborbood of over thirty thousand dollars! The recent sponsorship announcement between the track and the St. Croix Casino has allowed the track to increase the payoff to the drivers in other finishing positions and the increased guaranteed start money is sure to draw drivers from a wide area.
