(Milwaukee, WI) — The message from the Bucks front office is a clear one: superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo will have his contract extended – or, he will be traded. Team co-owner Wes Edens put the ball in the player’s court with those comments during an interview with ESPN. Edens says the Bucks can’t afford to let Antetokounmpo play out the last year of his contract. The extension would be effective in October and would be for 275 million dollars over four years.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Amaya Battle hit a tiebreaking jump shot with 0.7 seconds left, lifting Minnesota past Mississippi 65-63 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to reach the Sweet 16 for the first time in 21 years. Battle finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. She took the inbound pass near the paint and dribbled out along the baseline for more space before swishing the winner and landing on her back. Cotie McMahon fouled out for Mississippi with 4:22 left with 15 points. That put the senior transfer and leading scorer on the bench for the crucial final stretch.
(State College, PA) — For the second straight year and the fifth time in seven years, the Wisconsin women’s hockey team has claimed the NCAA Division One national title. Kelly Gorbatenko, Laney Potter, and Claire Enright provided the scoring in a 3-2 win over Ohio State. The Badgers jumped out to a two-goal lead, the Buckeyes tied it, then Enright scored the winner with 6:18 left in the game. Earlier in the weekend, senior Caroline Harvey was named winner of the Patty Kazmeier Award. Harvey, Lacey Eden, and Laila Edwards were named to the CCM/ACHA All-American team.
(Madison, WI) — It was a big four days for the Wisconsin men’s hockey team. Top high school prospect Jayden Kurtz of Rogers, Minnesota, committed to play for coach Mike Hastings and the Badgers last Thursday. He’s a top-80 talent. Then, Wisconsin found out over the weekend that it would be playing in the postseason. The Badgers are scheduled to meet Dartmouth on Thursday.
(Phoenix, AZ) — The Brewers wrapped up 2026 Spring Training with a lopsided 12-0 loss to the Cubs Sunday afternoon. Milwaukee compiled a 12-and-16 record in Arizona. ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Seattle’s Andrew Thomas finished with two saves and Drake Callender did likewise as the Sounders and Minnesota United played to a scoreless draw. It was the third straight and fourth shutout in five starts this season for Thomas. The 27-year-old took the starting reins from mainstay Stefan Frei — now in a backup role for the Sounders (3-1-1). He hasn’t allowed a goal since a 2-1 loss to Real Salt Lake in Seattle’s road opener. He also blanked the Colorado Rapids 2-0 in the season opener at home. Thomas had the lone save of the first half. Callender notched his second clean sheet in his first season with Minnesota United (1-2-2).
