(Milwaukee, WI) — Christian Yelich’s first career pinch-hit homer gave the Brewers a 9-7 victory Sunday afternoon. That completed a three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox in the first series of the 2026 season. Milwaukee had trailed 7-3 before putting a six-spot on the board in the bottom of the eighth. Gary Sanchez also had a homer for the winners. Jake Woodford got the win in relief, and Trevor Megill nailed down his first save. The Brewers open a home series against the Tampa Bay Rays tonight (Monday).
Pregame at 6:05pm. First pitch at 6:40pm on AM1240 & 96.FM.
BALTIMORE (AP) — Pete Alonso singled home the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, Tyler O’Neill hit a three-run homer and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Minnesota Twins 8-6. After the Twins bolted to a 4-0 lead against Orioles newcomer Shane Baz, Baltimore bounced back to win the deciding matchup of the season-opening, three-game series. Alonso snapped a 5-all tie with a soft single to center off Mack Abel. It was Alonso’s first RBI with the Orioles since leaving the Mets in December as a free agent. Adley Rustchman followed with a run-scoring double and Coby Mayo tacked on an RBI single. Royce Lewis homered for the Twins, and Tristan Gray drove in three runs.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and five other players who have accounted for significant minutes were absent. Gary Trenth Junior scored a season-high 36 points. Milwaukee had only eight players available, and that was down to six Bucks after A-J Green and Ousmane Dieng fouled out. The Bucks host the Dallas Mavericks Tuesday.
(Wichita, KS) — Wisconsin women’s basketball coach Robin Pingeton tells reports that defense and rebounding will be “critical” when her team plays tonight (Monday). The Final Four is set. Illinois will face UConn and Michigan will take on Arizona next Saturday, with the winners squaring off two nights later for the national title. The Arizona-Michigan game is a matchup of top seeds. UConn, after a 19-point comeback for a 73-72 win over Duke, is seeded second and will play No. 3 seed Illinois. Arizona is the early favorite to take the title next Monday night in Indianapolis, according to BetMGM Sportsbook, followed closely by Michigan. The Huskies beat Duke with a 3-pointer from the logo with 0.4 seconds left by Braylon Mullins, who grew up just outside of Indianapolis.
(Madison, WI) — A 4-3 Saturday win over top-seeded Michigan State returns the Wisconsin men’s hockey team to the NCAA Frozen Four. ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Sophie Shirley scored two goals to make a winner of Boston rookie goaltender Amanda Thiele in her PWHL debut, and the Fleet beat the Minnesota Frost 4-2 to clinch a spot in the postseason. Shirley gave Boston (13-5-2-4) two-goal leads in the first and third periods to help the Fleet move five points in front of Montreal and nine ahead of third-place Minnesota (11-3-3-6) with three weeks left in the regular season. Thiele got her first start when Aerin Frankel was given the day off after she posted a league-record three straight shutouts and a scoreless streak of 191 minutes, 1 second. Thiele, a two-time NCAA champion at Ohio State, saved 23 shots. The Fleet’s scoreless stretch reached 211:24 before it ended.
HOUSTON (AP) — Gary Woodland is a winner again just 30 months after brain surgery. Woodland produced a moment as big as his U.S. Open title at Pebble Beach when he won the Houston Open. He led by as many as seven shots and shot 67 to win by four. Woodland had surgery in September 2023 to remove a lesion on a part of the brain that caused unfounded fears of dying. And then two weeks ago he chose to go public with his harrowing struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder in an emotional Golf Channel interview. The win gets him in the Masters.
Martinsville, Va. (AP) — Chase Elliott has outdueled Denny Hamlin at Martinsville Speedway to earn his first NASCAR Cup Series victory of the season. Elliott capitalized on a shrewd gamble by crew chief Alan Gustafson to pit the No. 9 Chevrolet earlier than the other contenders. When the caution flew on the 312th lap on Sunday, Elliott was in the lead and pitted with the rest of the lead-lap drivers aside from Ross Chastain. Elliott took first from Chastain after a restart and led the final 69 laps to win by 0.565 seconds over Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota. Joey Logano finished third, followed by Ty Gibbs and William Byron.
