MILWAUKEE (AP) — William Contreras went 4 for 4 and hit a tiebreaking two-out single in the eighth inning as the Milwaukee Brewers won 5-4 on Monday night to hand the Baltimore Orioles their seventh consecutive loss. The Orioles erased a three-run deficit but still fell to 0-3 since firing manager Brandon Hyde and handing the job to Tony Mansolino on an interim basis. Mansolino had been working as Hyde’s third-base coach. Baltimore tied the game on Cedric Mullins’ three-run homer off Nick Mears in the seventh inning. Milwaukee responded when Contreras singled home Brice Turang in the eighth.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Cleveland Guardians-Minnesota game was suspended in the fourth inning after a second rain delay with the Twins leading 2-1. The game will resume Tuesday night with the regularly scheduled game to follow 30 minutes after its completion. The Guardians scored on an RBI double by Kyle Manzardo in the first inning against Twins starter Bailey Ober. Ty France had a run-scoring single in the bottom of the inning to tie it. Harrison Bader scored from first on a double by Willi Castro to put the Twins up a run in the second before lightning led to a one-hour delay. They finished the second and played a scoreless third before more rain led to the suspension.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Two years ago, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves met in the play-in tournament to determine which would get the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. Now, they’ll face off for a trip to the NBA Finals. Oklahoma City will host Game 1 of the Western Conference finals. The Thunder earned the top seed in the playoffs after posting a franchise-best 68-14 record in the regular season. Minnesota is seeded sixth, but the Timberwolves closed the regular season by winning 17 of 21 games. The teams have split four games this season.
Kendall Coyne Schofield and the defending Walter Cup champion Minnesota Frost have the edge in playoff experience in facing the Ottawa Charge in the best-of-five finals series which open on Tuesday night. The Charge are newcomers to the postseason after missing the playoffs in the PWHL’s inaugural season last year. Fourth-seeded Minnesota advance by defeating Toronto in four games of their semifinal series. Third-seeded Ottawa moved on by eliminating Montreal in four games. The matchup features teams with contrasting styles with Minnesota leaning on offense and Ottawa emphasizing defense. The teams split their regular season series with three wins apiece.
