(Milwaukee, WI) — The Brewers had to make last minute changes to their pitching staff Wednesday before they inevitably fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2. Right-hander Quinn Priester was scratched from his planned start Wednesday with what the team called a wrist issue. Aaron Ashby would instead start the game and pitch two innings before he was relieved by Erick Fredde, who the team signed hours before the game. The Brewers also placed All-Star closer Trevor Megill on the 15-day injured list with a right flexor strain.
Pregame at 12:35pm. First pitch at 1:10pm on AM1240 & 96.5FM.
(Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin Badgers football team will look to start the 2025 campaign off strong with a win against non-conference opponent Miami of Ohio tonight at Camp Randall Stadium. The Badgers are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 5-7 season last year, but a tough conference schedule looms. The Badgers shouldn’t look past Miami however, as the Redhawks have made a bowl game in the last five non-COVID seasons and are 20-8 over the last two seasons.
Pregame at 6pm. Kickoff is slated for 8pm on 96.1FM.
(Green Bay, WI) — The Green Bay Packers have made a signing looking to bolster its linebacker core. Green Bay yesterday signed Nick Niemann and released cornerback Micah Robinson. Niemann is a fifth year player out of Iowa who was originally drafted in the sixth round by the Los Angeles Chargers. Niemann appeared in 64 games for the Chargers, registering 51 tackles, a tackle for a loss, a QB hit, an interception, three passes defensed and a fumble recovery on defense. Niemann will wear No. 51 for the Packers.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have reacquired veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen from the Carolina Panthers. The Vikings traded draft picks for Thielen, who has the third-most catches in franchise history. The team needed more depth after losing Rondale Moore to a season-ending knee injury and Jordan Addison to a three-game suspension. Thielen is a native of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He became a success story after starting in 2013 as an undrafted player. He made two Pro Bowls with the Vikings. The 35-year-old still lives in Minnesota and has worked out with new Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy over the past two summers.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Matthew Caldwell is stepping down as the business operations president of the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers and accepting a 10-year deal as CEO of the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx. The teams announced the deal on Wednesday. Caldwell will begin overseeing “day-to-day business operations and high-level strategic initiatives for the Timberwolves, Lynx, and (the G League’s) Iowa Wolves” on Sept. 2.
(Milwaukee, WI) — The Bucks not only will have to deal with new roster pieces this season but also changes to the coaching staff. Joe Prunty, a long-time assistant with the Bucks, has departed to join the Orlando Magic as an assistant. Prunty first joined the Bucks in 2014, and took over as interim coach in 2018 when then coach Jason Kidd was fired. Prunty then spent the next several years as an assistant on the Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix Suns before returning to the Bucks coaching staff in 2023.
