MILWAUKEE (AP) — Jackson Chourio singled home Sal Frelick with the winning run in the 10th inning as the Milwaukee Brewers rallied to beat Los Angeles 3-2 to complete their first home sweep of the Dodgers in franchise history. The Brewers’ only two previous sweeps of the Dodgers came at Los Angeles, in May 2012 and August 2017. The NL West-leading Dodgers have lost six straight. Milwaukee’s Trevor Megill struck out Freddie Freeman, Andy Pages and Tommy Edman in order in the top of the 10th after the Brewers tied the game against Tanner Scott in the ninth.
The Brewers are off today.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Ryan Jeffers and Carlos Correa each had an RBI as the Minnesota Twins scored a pair of first-inning runs for the second straight game in a 4-2 win over the Chicago Cubs. Matt Wallner added a solo homer for the Twins in the third, which proved to be enough for right-hander David Festa (3-3), who went 5 1/3 innings and allowed a pair of runs in the fourth inning. The Twins lost All-Star center fielder Byron Buxton to a hand injury in the second inning. Cubs starter Cade Horton (3-3) didn’t make it through the fifth inning.

PHOENIX (AP) — Alyssa Thomas scored 12 of her career-high 29 points in the fourth quarter and the Phoenix Mercury closed on a 19-4 run to beat the Minnesota Lynx 79-71. Thomas was 14 of 24 from the field to top her previous high of 28 points. She also had eight rebounds and five assists. Phoenix tied it at 69 and 71 before Thomas scored on back-to-back possessions to take a 75-71 lead. She scored 10 points during the Mercury’s game-closing run. Monique Akoa Makani added 13 points and Sami Whitcomb scored 10 for Phoenix (14-6). Courtney Williams led Minnesota (17-3) with 21 points.

NEW YORK (AP) — Defending NBA Cup champion Milwaukee will play its group-stage games in this season’s tournament against New York, Chicago, Charlotte and Miami. The league on Wednesday unveiled the groups for the third year of the tournament, which tips off on Oct. 31. Group play continues through Nov. 28. Quarterfinals will be Dec. 9 and Dec. 10, with the tournament semifinals on Dec. 13 in Las Vegas. The championship game — which will not count toward the season record and statistics for either of the clubs involved — is Dec. 16 in Las Vegas.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck has agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2030 season. The university’s board of regents approved the deal. His $6 million annual salary remains unchanged, but retention bonuses have increased. Fleck will earn $1 million for staying through 2025. That annual bonus rises to $1.6 million for 2030. This adds $2.3 million to his previous agreement. Fleck is tied for 11th in compensation among Big Ten coaches. The Gophers are 58-39 over his eight seasons, 6-0 in bowl games and 34-36 in Big Ten play. Fleck has the program’s third-best winning percentage among long-term coaches.
