Natasha Howard had 15 points and nine rebounds, Kayla McBride scored 14 points and Courtney Williams added 13 points and five assists for the Lynx (12-3), who have won 10 of their last 11. Nia Coffey had a career-high five steals. Rae Burrell led the Sparks (7-8) with 19 points. Rookie Jihyun Park, who went into the game with six points this season, had 13. Dearica Hamby had 12 points and nine rebounds, and Nneka Ogwumike added 10 points and eight rebounds. Sparks star Kelsey Plum, who averages 25 points, did not play due to a leg injury.

(Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin football program has stolen a top prospect from Big 12 powerhouse Texas Tech. When the coaches finally got edge rusher Brody Pfannenstiel to come to Madison for an official visit, he quickly switched his commitment. Badger Notes-dot-com reports that Pfannenstiel is six-four and 225 pounds, and he plays multiple sports. At his high school in Hoisington, Kansas, he played offense and defense, with 10 sacks in the last two years, while scoring a dozen touchdowns as a tight end.
(Milwaukee, WI) — NBA teams can make a lot of bad choices on draft day, through the players they pick, or the ones they trade. Bleacher Report has compiled a list of 25 draft-day misfires. The Bucks are on that list for picking Jabari Parker with the second pick in the 2014 draft. Analysts say things looked okay for a couple of seasons, but the mistake became obvious as Joel Embiid developed into an annual all-star while Parker faded away. Much worse, though, was the 1984 decision by the Portland Trail Blazers to pass on Michael Jordan.
The accolades keep coming for Caroline Harvey, with the U.S. national team and Wisconsin defender named the International Ice Hockey Federation’s female player of the year. The honor caps a year in which the 23-year-old Harvey cemented her claim in being her generation’s most accomplished player. Harvey was the overwhelming favorite in receiving more than 77% of the votes, the IIHF said. To top it off, the IIHF honor comes the same day Harvey is expected to be selected with the first pick in the PWHL draft being held in Detroit.

The selection came on the same day Harvey was named the International Ice Hockey Federation’s female player of the year, and further cements the 23-year-old’s case as being her generation’s most accomplished player. The two-time Olympian and tournament MVP at the Milan Cortina Games, Harvey stands out from a deeply talented draft class that features four U.S. teammates.
