CHICAGO (AP) — The scheduled game between the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night at Wrigley Field was postponed because of rain. The game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Monday, Aug. 18. The first game will start at 1:20 and the second at 7:05 p.m. The Brewers and Cubs are scheduled to play the final game of what was to be a three-game series on Thursday afternoon.
Pregame at 12:45pm. First pitch at 1:20pm on AM1240 & 96.5FM.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Spencer Steer hit a two-run home run and Nick Lodolo allowed two runs on three hits in five innings to help the Cincinnati Reds beat the Minnesota Twins 4-2 in a rain-shortened game. The start was delayed two hours and seven minutes by severe weather. With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, rain returned and the game was called after a 53-minute delay. Byron Buxton’s 11th career leadoff homer put the Twins ahead 1-0. Steer put the Reds ahead 2-1 in the first with a two-out, two-run homer off Bailey Ober (4-4). RBI singles by Matt McLain and Will Benson in extended the lead to 4-1.

The Buss family has agreed to sell the controlling stake of the Los Angeles Lakers to TWG Global CEO Mark Walter, doing so with a franchise valuation of $10 billion — the most ever for a professional sports franchise, a person with knowledge of the agreement said Wednesday. As part of the deal, Jeanie Buss — whose family has had control of the Lakers since her father bought the team in 1979 — intends to remain as governor, said the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither side immediately announced details.
