(Chicago, IL) — The Brewers completed their first sweep of a series in Wrigley Field in five years Wednesday night. Kyle Harrison and D-L Hall combined on a two-hit shutout, 5-0. Light-hitting infielder David Hamilton went 3-for-4 with a “little league home run” – officially, a triple, but he circled the bases. William Contreras also had three hits. Milwaukee is off tonight (Thursday), then welcomes the Los Angeles Dodgers to American Family Field for a weekend series.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Joe Ryan matched his career high with 12 strikeouts over six innings, Ryan Kreidler hit a three-run home run against his former team and the Minnesota Twins beat the Houston Astros 4-1. Ryan raised his record to 3-3. He retired his last 16 batters after an RBI single by his former catcher Christian Vázquez in the second. The other three hits Ryan allowed were a leadoff blooper and two infield singles. He didn’t walk anybody while throwing 71 of 99 pitches for strikes. Rookie Andrew Morris pitched a perfect ninth inning for his first career save.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The MVP looked like the MVP again, and the Western Conference finals are knotted up. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander bounced back from a subpar series opener to score 30 points, Alex Caruso added 17 off the bench and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the San Antonio Spurs 122-113 on Wednesday night in Game 2. Chet Holmgren scored 13 points and reserves Jared McCain and Cason Wallace each had 12 for Oklahoma City. The Thunder finished with a 57-25 edge in bench scoring, plus a 27-10 edge in points off turnovers. (Milwaukee, WI) — The Bucks assistant general manager acknowledges the team could trade its number-10 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft next month. That’s the highest pick the team has had in years. Mitt Newton told 620 WTMJ the draft pick is considered an “asset” for Milwaukee, and it could be used in many ways. This year’s draft is considered to be very deep, with Newton mentioning several talented guards and small forwards who are expected to be available for the team picking 10th.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly is promising to be aggressive about trying to improve the team this summer after losing to the San Antonio Spurs in a six-game second-round playoff series. The Timberwolves lost the clinching game by 30 points after falling by that same margin while being eliminated last year by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the fifth game of the Western Conference Finals. Connelly sidestepped questions about whether power forward Julius Randle still fits into the team’s long-term plan after a dismal performance over the last five games of the playoffs.

DENVER (AP) — Dylan Coghlan scored his first Stanley Cup playoff goal to get Vegas rolling, Carter Hart made 36 saves and the Golden Knights opened the Western Conference final by holding off the Colorado Avalanche 4-2 on Wednesday night. Trailing 3-0 in the third period, Colorado made it a 3-2 game with 2:21 remaining on a power-play goal from Gabriel Landeskog. Nic Dowd sealed the win for Vegas on an empty-net goal with 44.5 seconds left. Pavel Dorofeyev and Brett Howden also added goals for the Golden Knights, who took advantage of several defensive miscommunications by the Avalanche as they juggled their blue-line pairings with Cale Makar sidelined by an upper-body injury.

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Abby Roque scored twice, Ann-Renée Desbiens made 23 saves and the Montreal Victoire won their first PWHL title, beating the Ottawa Charge 4-0 on Wednesday night in Game 4 of the Walter Cup Finals. Maggie Flaherty and Lina Ljungblom also scored. Montreal opened the best-of-five series at home with two overtime victories, then fell 2-1 at Ottawa on Monday night. Home teams had won the last five finals games. The Minnesota Frost won the first two titles in league history, beating Ottawa in four games last year in the championship series. Montreal beat Minnesota in the semifinals this season. Montreal captain Marie-Philip Poulin was honored as the playoff MVP. She tied for the postseason lead with eight points on two goals and six assists.

The future Hall of Fame quarterback commented during an ESPN interview at organized team activities for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rogers won four MVP awards, a Super Bowl, and was named Most Valuable Player for Super Bowl 45. He says he contemplated not coming back, but changed his mind when former Packer head coach Mike McCarthy was hired to succeed Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh.

(Chicago, IL) — All 18 Big Ten Conference football coaches oppose the new rule on punting put in place by the NCAA. Badgers Wire-dot-com reports that those against the rule feel it’s another case of college football’s governing body making unnecessary changes. The rule is called “complicated” by college football analysts. Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell was among the conference coaches opposing the change.
