CHICAGO (AP) — Freddy Peralta allowed one hit in six innings for his major league-leading 15th win, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 7-0 on Monday. Milwaukee won for the 15th time in 16 games and extended its NL Central lead to nine over the rival Cubs. The teams were scheduled to play a split doubleheader at Wrigley Field, but the nightcap was postponed due to a forecast of inclement weather. It will be made up Tuesday afternoon as the first game of a day-night twinbill. Peralta (15-5) struck out six as Milwaukee improved to an MLB-best 79-45. The Brewers, who had their franchise-record 14-game winning streak snapped by Cincinnati on Sunday, have won 23 of 28 since the All-Star break. Brice Turang and Caleb Durbin each had two hits, two RBIs and a solo home run to lead the offense. Milwaukee relievers Abner Uribe, Jared Koenig and Grant Anderson held Chicago to one hit over the final three innings.

The Minnesota Twins open a three-game series at home against the Athletics on Tonight. Minnesota is 58-66 overall and 33-28 in home games. The Twins have a 29-11 record in games when they hit at least two home runs. The Athletics are 56-70 overall and 30-33 on the road. Athletics hitters have a collective .434 slugging percentage to rank second in the AL. Tuesday’s game is the fifth meeting between these teams this season. The Twins have a 3-1 advantage in the season series. Byron Buxton has 15 doubles, four triples and 25 home runs for the Twins. Luke Keaschall is 12 for 39 with a double and a home run over the last 10 games. Shea Langeliers has 21 doubles, 26 home runs and 56 RBIs for the Athletics. Colby Thomas is 10 for 28 with a double and three home runs over the past 10 games.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love returned to practice Monday less than a week after undergoing thumb surgery on his non-throwing hand.He had his thumb, which had ligament damage, wrapped while going through a series of passing drills.The injury occurred, coach Matt LaFleur previously said, when he was sacked for a 3-yard loss by Jay Tufele on the quarterback’s final snap from scrimmage during the Packers’ 30-10 preseason loss to the New York Jets on Aug. 9.
LaFleur has already ruled out Love from playing in the Packers’ final preseason game against Seattle on Saturday.
