ATLANTA (AP) — Isaac Collins hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning, Quinn Priester allowed just one more hit over seven innings after surrendering a first-pitch homer, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Atlanta Braves 3-1 on Monday night. Priester (11-2) struck out four and walked two while throwing 90 pitches as the Brewers improved to a major league-best 68-44. Jurickson Profar hit Priester’s first pitch of the game over the right-field wall to put the Braves ahead. It was Profar’s fourth home run of the year. Collins, the NL rookie of the month, made it 3-1 in the fourth with his drive to right.

DETROIT (AP) — Kerry Carpenter homered in a three-run sixth inning and the Detroit Tigers rallied for a 6-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Monday. Wenceel Pérez and Dillon Dingler also homered for the Tigers, while Ryan Jeffers, Trevor Larnach and Matt Wallner had homers for Minnesota. Detroit has won six of its last eight games since losing 12 of 13. The Twins have lost five of six. Casey Mize picked up the win, allowing three runs in six innings while Kyle Finnegan pitched the ninth for his second Tigers save. Noah Davis took the loss in relief.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Cornerback Corey Ballentine has returned to the Green Bay Packers three days after the Indianapolis Colts released him. The 29-year-old Ballentine rejoined the Packers on Monday after playing 37 regular-season and three postseason games for them from 2022-24. The Packers made room for him by releasing cornerback Gregory Junior. The Colts signed Ballentine in March but released him Friday when they signed cornerback Chris Lammons. Ballentine played 15 games last season while contributing primarily on special teams. He started six games in 2023.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Napheesa Collier will be sidelined for a few weeks after spraining her right ankle against the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday, the team announced Monday. Collier will be reevaluated in the coming weeks. The MVP frontrunner appeared to step on teammate Alanna Smith’s left foot and immediately went down near Las Vegas’ bench with the Lynx holding a 92-49 lead late in the third quarter.

The NCAA has decided not to expand the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments beyond 68 teams in 2026. Dan Gavitt, NCAA senior vice president of basketball, announced the decision. Discussions about possibly expanding to 72 or 76 teams for the 2027 tournaments remain ongoing. NCAA President Charlie Baker believes adding teams could enhance the tournament’s value. He mentioned having productive talks with TV partners CBS and Warner Bros. Their current deal, valued at about $1.1 billion annually, runs through 2032.
