MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Mark Williams had 22 points and seven rebounds, and the Phoenix Suns overcame Anthony Edwards’ 40 points to snap the Minnesota Timberwolves’ five-game winning streak with a 108-105 victory. Collin Gillespie added 19 points and Dillon Brooks had 18 for the Suns, who stunned Minnesota with a late rally in their previous meeting but had an easier time Monday. Phoenix never trailed by more than two points in its final tuneup before traveling to league-leading Oklahoma City on Wednesday for an NBA Cup quarterfinal game. Edwards shot 15 for 21 and Julius Randle had 21 points, but the rest of Minnesota’s top players struggled.
(Milwaukee, WI) — A decision will likely be made in the next 60 days to determine Giannis Antetokounmpo’s NBA future with or without the Bucks. ESPN reports that the player’s agent, Alex Saratsis, is meeting with Milwaukee’s front office. So far, there has been no announced demand for a trade. Antetokounmpo was on board with the team put together by general manager Jon Horst as the season got underway. Unfortunately, the Bucks have lost 10 of their last 12 games, leading to a record of 10-and-15 and 10th place in the Eastern Division.
(Madison, WI) — The attorney for former Wisconsin women’s basketball coach Marisa Moseley has asked the federal court to dismiss the case against her. The Journal Sentinel reports that six former Badgers baseball players are suing the coach, the UW Board of Regents, and a former UW athletics department official, alleging they were psychologically abused. The motion for dismissal was filed Monday in court in Madison. Attorney Anne Bensky argues the plaintiffs’ case doesn’t contain any facts showing a violation of the US Constitution or any federal laws. Moseley resigned last March.

SEATTLE (AP) — Joel Eriksson Ek had a goal and two assists, and the Minnesota Wild scored three times in the third period to beat the Seattle Kraken 4-1. Marcus Johansson, Kirill Kaprizov and Vladimir Tarasenko also scored to help the Wild snap a two-game skid that followed a 12-game point streak (10-0-2). Filip Gustavsson stopped 23 shots to help the Wild snap a two-game skid. Jordan Eberle scored and Philipp Grubauer finished with 25 saves as the Kraken lost their sixth straight — fifth straight in regulation. Johansson gave the Wild a 2-1 lead at 8:12 of the third period, deflecting Eriksson Ek’s centering pass past Grubauer. Tye Kartye had a tying goal for Seattle overturned for high sticking on the play, and Kaprizov and Tarasenko had empty-netters in the closing minutes to seal Minnesota’s win.
(Milwaukee, WI) — The Milwaukee Brewers have been named Major League Baseball Organization of the Year for 2025. Baseball America announced the award Monday during the annual Winter Meetings in Orlando. The Brewers have won 90 or more games the past three seasons, and they won more than any other MLB team in 2025 with 97 victories. They achieved that while doing business with a payroll in the bottom third of all the teams. Earlier this fall, manager Pat Murphy was named National League Manager of the Year.
(Green Bay, WI) — The battle of words isn’t over between the Packers and Bears. Following Sunday’s 28-21 Green Bay victory at Lambeau Field, Bears safety Jaquan Brisker said Packers fans were quieter than normal during the game. Then he said, “So were the players.” Lombardi Avenue-dot-com then points out the icy post-game handshake between the head coaches. It’s all good for the longtime rivalry, but website author Jaleel Grandberry says what’s best for the series is that Chicago is competitive again.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Jordan Love realizes the Green Bay Packers can’t afford to get complacent now that they have regained first place in the NFC North. Their schedule won’t allow it. The Packers (9-3-1) leapfrogged Chicago for the division lead with a 28-21 victory over the Bears. Now they must go on the road to try halting the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos’ 10-game winning streak. Then they continue the toughest stretch of their schedule by going to Chicago for a Dec. 20 rematch with the Bears (9-4). Those upcoming assignments give the Packers no chance to catch a breath after Sunday’s emotional win.
