MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Rudy Gobert had 15 points and 17 rebounds as the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Golden State Warriors 108-83 on Monday night in a game missing much of its usual star power. The Warriors were playing without starters Stephen Curry (knee) and Draymond Green (back), while Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards was a late scratch to rest a recurring right foot injury. Julius Randle led Minnesota with 18 points and Bones Hyland chipped in 17. Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo each scored 15 for the Timberwolves, who snapped a five-game losing streak, their longest skid since they lost five straight in December 2022.
(Philadelphia, PA) — The Bucks will be trying to find an elusive victory on the road when they play at Philadelphia tonight (Tuesday). Milwaukee has lost five of its last six games and will be playing without superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo again. Antetokounmpo is dealing with yet another leg injury. The 76ers lost the last time they played by a score of 112-109 against the New York Knicks.
Pregame at 6:30pm. Tipoff at 7pm on AM1240 & 96.5FM
(Milwaukee, WI) — Seven of Marquette’s victories in a 7-and-14 season have come on the home court at the Fiserv Forum. The Golden Eagles hope that home cooking is enough for a win against Creighton tonight (Tuesday). The Bluejays won the first Big East meeting between the two teams last month. Creighton is just 3-and-6 on the road. Marquette will be trying to turn things around after losing 10 of its last 12.
Arizona remains the unanimous No. 1 in the AP Top 25 men’s college basketball poll. Nebraska climbed to a program-best fifth place. Duke held steady at No. 4, while Gonzaga moved up two spots to sixth. Michigan, Iowa State, Illinois and Houston round out the top 10. Purdue dropped to No. 12 after back-to-back losses last week. (Madison, WI) — Athletic Director Christ McIntosh confirms that the last few subpar football seasons are impacting Badger ticket sales. PBS Wisconsin reports that McIntosh is pointing out that Wisconsin has actually bucked the national trend in recent years with increased revenue and ticket sales. Last year reversed the UW positive trend. The head of the athletics department says he’s hoping a return to the winning ways of the past will bring the fans back to Camp Randall Stadium. Tickets for the 2026 season go on sale this week.
(Green Bay, WI) — Packers secondary coach Ryan Downard is following Jeff Hafley to the Miami Dolphins. Phinsider-dot-com reported the development Monday. Hafley was Green Bay’s defensive coordinator, but he is moving south to be a head coach. Downard is going to be the secondary coach for the Dolphins. He had spent the last eight seasons with the Packers.
A person with knowledge of the move tells The Associated Press that Daronte Jones and the Washington Commanders are finalizing a deal to make him their defensive coordinator. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity on Monday because the contract was not completed and nothing had been announced by the team. ESPN first reported that Jones and the Commanders were close to an agreement. Jones has spent the past three seasons as the defensive passing game coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings and also has served as that club’s defensive backs coach. Jones replaces the fired Joe Whitt Jr. in Washington.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Jett Williams joined the Milwaukee Brewers organization less than a week ago. But he already has a pretty good read on his new team. The 5-foot-7 infielder/outfielder described the Brewers as “a bunch of short guys that are a little bit scrappy — similar to me.” The Brewers acquired Williams and right-handed pitcher Brandon Sproat last week in a trade that sent two-time All-Star Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers to the New York Mets. They join a Brewers organization that is chasing a fourth straight NL Central title.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — All-Star pitcher Joe Ryan and the Minnesota Twins have agreed to a one-year contract, avoiding salary arbitration. The deal guarantees $6.2 million, with Ryan receiving $6.1 million this year. The agreement includes a $13 million mutual option for 2027 with a $100,000 buyout. A 29-year-old right-hander, Ryan was 13-10 with a 3.42 ERA last year. He is on track to become a free agent after the 2027 World Series. Fifteen players remain scheduled for arbitration hearings, most notably two-time AL Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal and the Detroit Tigers.
