CLEVELAND (AP) — Petey Halpin and Rhys Hoskins each went deep twice and the Cleveland Guardians matched a franchise record for a home game by hitting seven home runs in their 13-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins. Bryan Rocchio, Travis Bazzana and Patrick Bailey also homered for Cleveland. It was the sixth time in the franchise’s 125 seasons that Cleveland went deep at least seven times in a game. Cleveland hit a franchise-best eight homers at Milwaukee on April 25, 1997, and at Seattle on July 16, 2004. Minnesota starter Joe Ryan tied a major league record and set a franchise mark by allowing six homers.
SEATTLE (AP) — Kayla McBride made six 3-pointers and scored 33 points, rookie Olivia Miles had 32 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, and the Minnesota Lynx beat the Seattle Storm 105-102 for their sixth straight victory. McBride, Miles and Courtney Williams combined for 30 of Minnesota’s 37 field goals. The three guards also went 18 of 18 at the free-throw line. Miles was one point shy of her career high, set on July 13 against Phoenix. Flau’jae Johnson scored 26 points and made five 3-pointers for Seattle, and Zia Cooke added 18 points.

Sports Illustrated reports that Ryan Rollins, Tyler Herro, Brayden Burries, and Kasparus Jakocionis will get most of the minutes in the backcourt. That leaves little time for Caris LeVert, A-J Green, and Kevin Porter Junior. Green and Porter would have the most value on the trade market, mostly from competitive teams looking for depth.
(Green Bay, WI) — The Packers have locked up another young starting player. Defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt signed a three-year, 57-million-dollar contract extension Monday. Wyatt gets a 20-million-dollar signing bonus. Green Bay has reached agreement on contract extensions with Isaiah McDuffie, Jayden Reed, and Christian Watson recently. The team is expected to work out a long-term deal with tight end Tucker Kraft next.
(Madison, WI) — Wisconsin quarterback Cotton Joseph ranks among the top Big Ten Conference quarterbacks finding new homes through the transfer portal. ESPN ranks Joseph fourth behind Nebraska’s Anthony Colandrea, Katin Houser of Illinois, and Rocco Becht of Penn State. He has the reputation as one of the country’s best dual-threat quarterbacks and a significant upgrade over the Badgers’ offensive leaders in the last two seasons.
