(Inglewood, CA) — The Bucks suffered another one-sided loss Monday night against the Clippers. They trailed by more than 40 points and eventually dropped the game 129-96. Gary Trent Junior came off the bench to lead the scoring with 20 points. The Milwaukee bench actually provided 60 of the team’s 96 points. The Bucks are back in action Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Milwaukee Bucks requested waivers on guard Cam Thomas and converted forward/center Pete Nance to a multi-year standard NBA contract. The 26-year-old Nance entered Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers having averaged 4.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 12.1 minutes in 37 games while playing on a two-way deal. Thomas had signed with the Bucks on Feb. 8 after the Brooklyn Nets had waived him. Thomas scored 34 points in a 116-108 victory at Orlando in his Bucks debut and had 27 points in a 139-118 win at New Orleans nine days later before his role started to decrease.
(Milwaukee, WI) — The home crowd at American Family Field watched the Brewers dominate Central Division rival Cincinnati Monday 9-1. Milwaukee has one more game that doesn’t count before the regular season starts Thursday. Eight pitchers held the Reds to one run on four hits. Brice Turang, William Contreras, and Andrew Vaughan hit home runs. The Brewers play the Reds again this afternoon (Tuesday), then have a day off and Opening Day against the Chicago White Sox.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee’s Brandon Woodruff will be ready to start the season on time. That’s a welcome development for a Brewers rotation lacking experience. The two-time All-Star right-hander will start the Brewers’ fifth game of the season, March 31 against the Tampa Bay Rays. Woodruff had spent spring training working his way back after missing the postseason with a lat strain. That raised the possibility he might open the year with at least a brief stint on the injured list.
(Madison, WI) — One way to rank major college football teams with the season still months away is to measure how much production is returning. ESPN ranks Wisconsin in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten Conference and 35th nationally. The Badgers will meet four of the top 15 teams next season – including the Maryland Terrapins, who are second in the nation. The metric doesn’t always work. Illinois had the third-most production returning going into the 2025 season, and it had to settle for a lower-than-expected 9-and-4 record.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota has promoted Greg May to head coach of the women’s hockey team after three seasons as an assistant under Brad Frost. May agreed to a four-year contract, Frost was let go last week after 19 seasons and four national championships. The 40-year-old May was the head coach of the men’s NCAA Division III team at Augsburg University for two seasons before joining Frost and the Gophers. He spent two years as the director of operations for the Minnesota men’s team prior to that. May also served as an assistant coach on the U.S. women’s junior national team in January.
NEW YORK (AP) — WNBA players have unanimously approved the new collective bargaining agreement with more than 90% participating in voting over the weekend. The seven-year CBA, which will begin this season and run through 2032, represents a landmark labor deal for the WNBA and its players. The union says the deal “delivers consequential economic progress and expanded benefits that support players on and off the court.” Once the WNBA Board of Governors approves the CBA it will become official. Then there will be a sprint to the start of the regular season on May 8.
(Green Bay, WI) — Former Packers executive Bob Harlan was memorialized at the Lambeau Field Atrium Monday. Harlan died two-and-a-half weeks ago at the age of 89. The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that he was given a lot of the credit for steps taken to build the Atrium, the Titletown District, and expansion projects at the historic stadium. Current and former executives and coaches said Harlan was able to make the hard decisions that had to be made. They also said he was generous with his time and a perfect leader for the franchise.
