(Chicago, IL) — The Brewers scored the first eight runs of the game on the way to a 9-3 win over the Chicago Cubs Monday night. Milwaukee doesn’t hit many home runs, but it got long balls from Christian Yelich and Jake Bauers at Wrigley Field. Bauers drove in four runs. Rookie Shane Drohan got the win in relief by throwing four-and-a-third scoreless innings. Jacob Misiorowski starts Tuesday’s game against the Cubs.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Josh Bell homered twice and drove in four runs as the Minnesota Twins beat the Houston Astros 6-3. The game was delayed 1 hours, 57 minutes due to rain and lightning in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Twins leading 3-0. Bell homered in the second inning to open the scoring, then took Astros starter Tatsuya Imai deep to left for a two-run shot in the fourth. It was the 12th multi-homer game of Bell’s 11-year career. After play resumed, Bell drove in his fourth run with an RBI single in the sixth.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson will have offseason surgery on his hip that puts his readiness for the beginning of training camp in question. Wild general manager Bill Guerin the procedure would take place “as soon as possible” to repair damage from wear and tear. Gustavsson slumped down the stretch of the regular season and was benched for the start of the playoffs when rookie Jesper Wallstedt took over as the No. 1 goalie. Gustavsson made one postseason start with a 5-2 loss at Colorado in Game 2 of the second-round series. The Avalanche ousted the Wild in five games.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Victor Wembanyama had 41 points and 24 rebounds, Dylan Harper finished with 24 points and a team playoff-record seven steals, and the San Antonio Spurs beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 122-115 in a double-overtime classic to open the Western Conference finals. Wembanyama sealed it with a pair of dunks in the final minute, one of them leading to a three-point play as the Spurs stole home-court advantage and beat the Thunder for the fifth time in six meetings this season. Alex Caruso scored 31 points, the second-highest scoring game of his career, for the Thunder. Oklahoma City’s nine-game playoff winning streak dating to Game 7 of last season’s Finals was snapped.
(Milwaukee, WI) — NBA players think two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo will be playing in Milwaukee next season. A survey of 151 players returned that result, with 45-point-7 percent saying Antetokounmpo will sign the extension. Miami was the second choice, and the New York Knicks were third. The Bucks have a top-10 draft pick in a deep class of talented players, meaning the team could pair a quality teammate with the superstar. The problem is the Milwaukee front office has a disappointing record of picking good players in the draft.
(Detroit, MI) — When former Packers coach Mike Holmgren hired Sherman Lewis to be offensive coordinator and Ray Rhodes to handle the defense, it was the first time any NFL team had two black coordinators. That was 34 years ago. Lewis died in Detroit at the age of 83. He ran the Green Bay offense from 1992 to 1999, though he never called the plays.
(Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin football coaching staff is trying to repair a secondary that didn’t play well last season. More speed may be the solution. He won’t help this season, but a prospect from California is fitting the profile the Badger coaches are going after. Donovan Dunmore is breaking state records in the 100-meter dash. PrepCalTrack says Dunmore has entered the conversation for the “State’s Fastest Teen.” Wisconsin wants to play man-to-man, and it needs speed for that. Dunmore could be an impact player by the time the 2027 season arrives.
