(Milwaukee, WI) — Brewers starter Logan Henderson won his sixth straight game in Tuesday night’s 4-2 victory over Pittsburgh. Henderson limited the Pirates to a pair of runs on four hits and a walk in six strong innings. Jackson Chourio and Andrew Vaughn supplied the power with a pair of home runs. Chourio went 3-for-4. Kyle Harrison gets the start in game three of the four-game set tonight (Wednesday).

MILWAUKEE (AP) — With the Milwaukee Brewers’ trade-deadline acquisition of veteran starter Dustin May, rookie right-hander Brandon Sproat became the odd man out of the rotation. Sproat, who appeared in 21 games for Milwaukee, including 19 starts, was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Nashville one day after another inconsistent start. May, acquired from the Cardinals on Monday along with reliever JoJo Romero, is scheduled to start Thursday for Milwaukee in the series finale against Pittsburgh. Left-hander Kyle Harrison, on the injured list since July 9, also is scheduled to return and start Wednesday. The 25-year-old Sproat, acquired from the Mets in the offseason trade for Freddy Peralta, is 3-7 with a 5.27 ERA for Milwaukee. He has not won in five starts since his last victory on June 30.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Bobby Witt Jr. had three hits and two RBIs in his return to the lineup, leading the Kansas City Royals to an 8-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins. Witt, who missed two weeks with back tightness, went 3 for 5 with a two-run double and scored twice. Randy Dobnak allowed one run and three hits in five innings against his former team to help the Royals stop a four-game losing streak. Josh Bell homered late for the Twins, who have lost three in a row. They remained a game behind Cleveland for the final American League playoff spot.
(Green Bay, WI) — Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons doesn’t want to miss half of the 2026 NFL season, or possibly more. Although he says he’s not into timetables, Parsons also tells reporters he likes his chances of being back on the field for Green Bay’s Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys. He says it’s “very realistic.” ESPN points out that a change in the rules means players like Parsons will be eligible to practice after the first two weeks. ESPN Analytics shows that, despite missing the last four games of the 2025 season, Parsons led the NFL with 64 quarterback pressures.
(Madison, WI) — A much easier schedule boosts Badger football hopes for a better won-loss record in 2026. It is easier, but not easy. Wisconsin won’t play three of the Big Ten Conference’s top teams, Indiana, Oregon, and Ohio State. It does face lesser teams, like Maryland, Purdue, Rutgers, and Michigan State. It’s still not a breeze. Sports Illustrated points out that coach Luke Fickell’s team will still have to take on four opponents ranked in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll Top 25: Notre Dame, USC, Penn State, and Iowa.
(Chicago, IL) — The new 5-in-5 college eligibility rule change could really be a game-changer for volleyball programs like the University of Wisconsin. Badgers coach Kelly Sheffield was taking part in Big Ten Media Days Monday. His volleyball powerhouse doesn’t have any traditional seniors on its roster and the juniors could conceivably play for three more years, instead of two. Sheffield says he has already started having conversations with his players about what they might do if the extended eligibility rule becomes permanent.
The NCAA has women’s flag football on the fast track to becoming a championship sport. There could be a national title game as early as spring 2028, before the LA Games, where flag football will make its Olympic debut. More than 120 schools are slated to field a team this academic year. A vote in January by Division I, II, and III officials could cement the sport’s inclusion. Schools are already recruiting and game-planning to build championship rosters. The NFL has thrown its weight behind the sport, sponsoring teams and tournaments, and USA Football is developing players to bring home an Olympic medal.
