(Green Bay, WI) – The Green Bay Packers are expected to interview former Arizona Cardinal head coach Jonathan Gannon for their vacant defensive coordinator position. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports the interview will happen sometime this week. Gannon went 15-36 as the head coach of the Cardinals but his defenses saw success when he was the defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles. From 2021 to 2022, Gannon’s Eagles were 12th in opposing passer rating at 88.7. Gannon is the third known interviewee for Green Bay at the position, with the first two being Minnesota Vikings pass game coordinator/defensive backs coach Daronte Jones and Eagles pass game coordinator Christian Parker.
(Green Bay, WI) – The Green Bay Packers released defensive back Trevon Diggs Tuesday. Diggs is now subject to waivers and if he clears them, he’ll become a free agent. A six-year NFL veteran, Diggs latched on with the Packers at the end of the 2025 regular season, starting in their finale at Minnesota and recording two tackles before playing one snap in Green Bay’s Wild Card Weekend loss to Chicago. Green Bay released the cornerback and announced the move among a batch of forward-facing roster changes that included a pair of futures contracts.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison won’t be charged with misdemeanor trespassing after the case against him was dismissed. Florida state attorney Susan Lopez issued the termination of prosecution notice in Hillsborough County court with an order to release Addison’s $500 bond. Addison was detained in Tampa by Seminole Indian Police at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Jan. 12 and was released. He served a three-game suspension to start the 2025 season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. That stemmed from his drunken driving arrest in Los Angeles the year before.
(Milwaukee, WI) – Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun didn’t receive the needed 5% of votes to remain on the Baseball Hall of Fame ballot for another year. Braun’s name was checked on 15 of 425 ballots, good for only 3.5%. Braun was one of 12 first-time candidates, a list that also includes former Brewers pitcher Gio González, who did not receive any votes and also won’t return to the ballot. Braun was welcomed into the Brewers Walk of Fame in 2024.
NEW YORK (AP) — Carlos Beltrán and Andruw Jones have been elected to baseball’s Hall of Fame. Beltrán, in his fourth ballot appearance, received 84.2% of the votes from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Jones, in his ninth appearance, was picked on 78.4% of ballots. Beltrán’s vote percentage has steadily increased since 2023. He was also briefly hired as the New York Mets’ manager in 2019. Jones started with just 7.3% in 2018 but has steadily climbed. They will be inducted in Cooperstown, New York, on July 26, along with second baseman Jeff Kent.
