CINCINNATI (AP) — TJ Friedl made a leaping catch in center field for the final out to rob pinch-hitter Jake Bauers of a tying home run, and the Cincinnati Reds rallied for a 4-2 victory that snapped the Milwaukee Brewers’ eight-game winning streak. Tyler Stephenson homered for Cincinnati, and pinch-hitter Gavin Lux drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. Will Benson also went deep as the Reds stopped a three-game skid. Sal Frelick homered and Christian Yelich had two hits to extend his hitting streak to 10 games for Milwaukee.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Brandon Woodruff took a line drive to his throwing elbow during a rehabilitation appearance with Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday. Woodruff left the game after getting struck by a batted ball from Gwinnett’s Cade Bunnell that had a 108-mph exit velocity. Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy said after the Brewers’ 4-2 loss in Cincinnati on Tuesday night that his understanding was that X-rays on Woodruff were negative. Murphy added that Woodruff would undergo a CT scan on Wednesday.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Willi Castro hit a pair of homers and the Minnesota Twins scored four runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to hand the Athletics their eighth straight loss and 19th in their last 20 games, 10-3. Trevor Larnach and Castro homered and Byron Buxton added a two-run single in the sixth. Royce Lewis broke an 0-for-32 hitless streak with a bases-loaded double in the seventh. Pablo López (5-3) pitched five innings and gave up two runs on four hits, three walks while striking out four before leaving with right shoulder tightness while warming before the sixth. The A’s have lost 19 of 20 games for fourth time in franchise history.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Napheesa Collier had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Natisha Hiedeman also scored 18 points, and the Minnesota Lynx beat the Phoenix Mercury 88-65 to stay undefeated. After trailing 23-14 with 44.5 seconds left in the first quarter, the Lynx outscored the Mercury 49-23 to take a 63-46 lead with 2:41 remaining in the third. Alanna Smith and Kayla McBride each scored 13 points for Minnesota, which improved to 8-0. Lexi Held scored 16 points and Satou Sabally had 15 points and eight rebounds for Phoenix (5-3).
