(Milwaukee, WI) — The Bucks have been accused of tanking. The NBA Players Association rebuked the franchise Tuesday for holding Giannis Antetokounmpo out of the lineup when he says he wants to play. Milwaukee has lost 11 of its last 14 games. The union says keeping Antetokounmpo on the sidelines is damaging the league’s integrity. ESPN reports the NBAPA is citing the league’s anti-tanking rules, and it maintains the player is healthy and ready to play.
The Bucks visit Portland tonight. Pregame at 8:30pm. Tipoff at 9pm on AM1240 & 96.5FM

(Milwaukee, WI) — The Brewers closed out Spring Training with a two-game sweep of their NL Central Division rival Cincinnati Reds. Wednesday’s score at American Family Field was 4-1. Milwaukee held the Reds offense to just two runs on a dozen hits in two games. Jake Bauers had the big day as the exhibition games were wrapped up. Bauers went 2-for-4 with his seventh homer of the spring. Now, it’s time to play “for real.”

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers have boosted their bullpen depth by acquiring right-handed pitcher Jake Woodford from the Tampa Bay Rays for minor league right-hander K.C. Hunt. Milwaukee made room for Woodford on its 40-man roster by transferring outfielder Akil Baddoo to the 60-day injured list. The 29-year-old Woodford spent last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks and went 0-4 with a 6.44 ERA in 22 relief appearances. He struck out 23 batters in 36 1/3 innings. He owns a 10-17 career record with a 5.10 ERA in 111 appearances.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Erik Cernak scored a tiebreaking goal with 2:53 left in the third period when Minnesota goaltender Filip Gustavsson misplayed a carom off the end boards and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Wild 6-3. Darren Raddysh had a goal and two assists, Brayden Point, Brandon Hagel and Jake Guentzel also scored, and Pontus Holmberg added an empty-netter in the final half-minute. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 20 saves to win his fourth straight start. Guentzel’s was his 32nd of the season and the 300th for his career. Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal and an assist, and Mats Zuccarello and Brock Faber also scored for the Wild, who have lost five of their last seven games. Gustavsson stopped 19 of the 23 shots that he faced.

(Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin women’s basketball team is showing up strong in the postseason after a 13-and-17 regular season. The Badgers host Harvard in the quarterfinals of the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament Thursday. This is the tournament’s third year, and Big Ten teams Illinois and Minnesota won the first two. The Badgers are the only Big Ten team invited this year. If Wisconsin manages to win the tournament, it will be the program’s first winning record in 15 years.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota has named Brett Larson its men’s hockey coach. The Gophers turned to in-state rival St. Cloud State for a second straight hire after they agreed last week with Bob Motzko to make a coaching change. Larson spent eight seasons at St. Cloud State. He arrived after Motzko departed for Minnesota in 2018 after coaching the Huskies for 13 years. Larson guided St. Cloud State to two National Collegiate Hockey Conference championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances and the program’s first appearance in the national championship game in 2021. The Gophers finished the season with their worst record since 1971-72.

(Green Bay, WI) — A new rule in front of the NFL competition committee could benefit the Packers and star edge rusher Micah Parsons. The rule would change how players on the PUP list are handled. Parsons is coming off a torn ACL, and as it stands now, he will either start the season on the 53-man roster or will be placed on the physically unable to perform list. If he’s on the roster, he’ll count against the 53-player limit even though he won’t be able to take the field until Week 3. The change would let him start practicing two weeks earlier if he’s on the PUP list.
