ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Kirill Kaprizov broke the franchise career goals record with 220, Mats Zuccarello, Brock Faber and Quinn Hughes each had a goal and assist and the Minnesota Wild beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-1 Tuesday night. Kaprizov’s empty-netter, a backhander from center ice for his 35th of the season, pushed him past Marian Gaborik for the most in Wild history. Yakov Trenin also scored to help Minnesota end a two-game slide and continue its home dominance of Tampa Bay. The Wild are 16-3-0 at home against the Lightning. Matt Boldy added a season-high three assists, extending his points streak to a career-high-tying 10 games. Filip Gustavsson stopped 26 shots, improving to 5-1-0 in his past six starts. Nikita Kucherov scored for Tampa Bay.

The Minnesota Wild filled a need at their weakest position ahead of the NHL trade deadline by acquiring center Michael McCarron from the Nashville Predators. Minnesota sent a 2028 second-round pick to Nashville for the 6-foot-6 McCarron. It’s the second addition in as many days for the Wild, who also claimed forward Robby Fabbri off waivers from St. Louis. General manager Bill Guerin made his blockbuster move in December by getting elite defenseman Quinn Hughes from Vancouver. The Predators weren’t done dealing either. Later in the evening, Nashville dealt forward Cole Smith to the Vegas Golden Knights, and acquired minor-league defenseman Christoffer Sedoff and a 2028 third-round pick.

(Green Bay, WI) — The Atlanta Falcons are the ninth “home” team announced by the NFL for the international games during the 2026 season. That means the odds that the Packers will be involved in the program are dropping. The league made the latest announcement Tuesday. It says the rest of the international schedule will be released in May. The Packers could still wind up playing against the Lions in Munich or the Saints in a Paris game.

(Phoenix, AZ) — Some wrist discomfort remains for Brewers starting pitcher Quinn Priester. MLB-dot-com reports the problem that first showed up late last season is lingering. There’s also a possibility that veteran starter Brandon Woodruff won’t be available as the season starts. Right now, the team is taking it slow with both pitchers and saying Priester isn’t expected to be out for long. There are conflicting reports about Woodruff’s availability for Opening Day.

(Madison, WI) — The Badgers are hiring NFL assistant Ari Confesor to be their next wide receivers coach. 247Sports reported the move Tuesday. Confesor worked with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars last season. He’s also coached for the Kansas City Chiefs and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Wisconsin wide receivers room has a lot of new faces after a busy few months in the transfer portal.

(Phoenix, AZ) — Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis could be headed to the Arizona Cardinals. NFL Network reports the Cardinals have told their starting quarterback, Kyler Murray, that he will be officially released when the new NFL year starts a week from today (Wednesday). The move means Arizona will take a one-time cap hit of almost 55 million dollars. About 37 million of that comes from guarantees, including in his existing deal for the 2026 season.
