(Chicago, IL) — The Brewers reclaimed first place in the National League Central Division race by beating Chicago Tuesday night, 5-2. Second baseman Brice Turang went 3-for-4 with a homer and two runs batted in. Chicago has lost four in a row. Kyle Harrison starts for Milwaukee tonight.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Isaac Paredes hit a two-run homer in the first inning, Jason Alexander scattered four hits over six scoreless innings and the Houston Astros beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1. Jeremy Peña singled off Zebby Matthews (1-1) to open the game and Paredes followed with his fifth home run — on a 3-2 pitch — for a 2-0 lead. Alexander (1-0) walked one and struck out four after allowing 10 runs in 6 1/3 innings in his first two outings this season. Matthews worked six innings and never gave up a run after the first in his second start this season. He allowed six hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out six.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have sent struggling third baseman Royce Lewis to Triple-A to take some pressure off the 2017 No. 1 draft pick. They also learned catcher Ryan Jeffers will miss six to eight weeks with a broken wrist. Lewis hit .132 with 25 strikeouts in his last 74 plate appearances since returning from a sprained knee. Jeffers was hurt during a swing. Tests revealed a fracture in the hamate bone in his left hand. The 28-year-old is batting .295 with a .949 OPS, seven home runs and 26 RBIs in 37 games this season.
NEW YORK (AP) — Jalen Brunson sparked one of the NBA’s greatest postseason comebacks, a rally from a 22-point deficit in the fourth quarter, and he finished with 38 points as New York beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-104 in overtime on Tuesday night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals. After a record-setting run through the first two rounds, the Knicks were going nowhere for 40 minutes, trailing 93-71 with 7:52 to play. But Brunson relentlessly attacked James Harden to spark an 18-1 run that made it a ballgame, and he tied it at 101-all on a basket with 19 seconds remaining in regulation.
(Green Bay, WI) — Undrafted free agent edge rusher Nyjalik Kelly shows promise, but he’ll need to work to make the Packers’ opening roster. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive lineman put pressure on the quarterback on more than 12 percent of his snaps as a senior at Central Florida. Sports Illustrated reports that he also led UCF in forced fumbles as a junior and a senior. The biggest barrier to his opening the season on the active roster is the number of bodies Green Bay has at his position. At least some scouts say the Packers got an athlete who will help them someday.
(Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin Badgers-Minnesota Golden Gophers rivalry is ranked among the top 15 best in all of college football. The two teams have played 135 times, and Minnesota has the edge, but by just one game. The Badgers and Gophers have split, 5-5, in the last 10 meetings. On3-dot-com is doing the ranking. Among the other rivalries listed are Michigan-Ohio State, Texas-Oklahoma, and Army-Navy.
(Madison, WI) — A pair of former Badgers have made the preliminary USA roster for the 2026 Volleyball Nations League. Things get underway next month when the USA meets Ukraine on June 3rd. The team will scrimmage today (Wednesday) in Manhattan Beach, California – in preparation for a dozen matches through July 11th.
