(Washington, DC) — It’s a healthy Milwaukee Bucks team that opens the NBA season tonight (Wednesday) in Washington against the Wizards. Brew Hoop-dot-com reports no players are on the team’s injured list. The Bucks have been hurt badly by health issues over the last few seasons. With a major turnover in the roster, Milwaukee isn’t being projected to win the Eastern Conference despite the continued presence of two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

(Green Bay, WI) — Third-year defensive lineman Colby Wooden is emerging as a force for the Packers. Wooden is easing the impact of the departure of veteran Kenny Clark in the Micah Parsons trade. Lombardi Avenue-dot-com reports that Green Bay was able to keep the pressure on Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett in Sunday’s 27-23 win. The 24-year-old Wooden had his most productive game of the season, getting credit for six tackles, three quarterback pressures, and one tackle for loss.

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Carson Wentz will make his fifth straight start at quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings with J.J. McCarthy lacking time in a shortened week to keep building up his sprained right ankle. The Vikings play at the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night on the heels of a 28-22 loss at home to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Vikings determined after McCarthy went through a workout on the field that his ankle wasn’t quite strong enough yet to give him or them the best chance to succeed against the Chargers. The Vikings are 3-3 overall. They are 2-2 with Wentz.

(Madison, WI) — The hits just keep coming for the 2-and-5 Wisconsin Badgers. This weekend, the team takes the long road trip to Oregon to face the number-six Ducks. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell says he hasn’t been told whether he will be back next season. Fickell addressed that hours after athletic director Chris McIntosh sent a letter to season-ticket holders saying the school plans to increase its investment in its football program to “provide our coaches the tools necessary to succeed.” Wisconsin (2-5, 0-4 Big Ten) has lost its last five games by an average margin of 25.2 points and is coming off back-to-back home shutout losses.

(Madison, WI) — Wisconsin freshman goaltender Daniel Hauser has been honored by the Big Ten Conference. Hauser currently ranks fourth nationwide with a goals-against average of 1-point-20. Wisconsin hosts Alaska for a two-game series starting Friday.
