(Milwaukee, WI) — Freddy Peralta won his league-leading 17th game Tuesday night at home against the Los Angeles Angels. Christian Yelich pounded his 29th home run and drove in three in the 9-2 victory. Peralta gave up only two hits and a single run in his six innings on the mound, walking two. The win dropped the Brewers’ “magic number” to seven. Brandon Woodruff starts for Milwaukee tonight (Wednesday) in the second game of the series.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — David Bednar just held on to get the final three outs, and the New York Yankees held on to beat the Minnesota Twins 10-9 after nearly wasting a nine-run lead. Anthony Volpe had two hits and an RBI in his return to the starting lineup after getting a cortisone shot in his left shoulder, and Trent Grisham hit a three-run homer in the second as every New York starter had a hit and the Yankees built a 10-1 lead by the second. New York leads Houston by 1 1/2 games for the top AL wild card
(Green Bay, WI) — Packers’ wide receiver Jayden Reed had two surgeries Tuesday. While doctors were repairing his broken collarbone, they also took time to repair a fractured bone in his foot. Packers Wire reports that Reed’s recovery is expected to take six-to-eight weeks. That would return Green Bay’s leading receiver to the lineup by about Week 11. That means Reed could be 100 percent for the stretch run, rather than dealing with a sore foot all season.
(Madison, WI) — The Badgers are listed as nine-and-a-half-point favorites in Saturday’s home game against the Maryland Terrapins. The contest opens the Big Ten Conference season. The return of first-string quarterback Billy Edwards could be a game-time decision as he works his way back from injury. Edwards would be facing his former team. Maryland is undefeated. The Badgers need a win badly because they are about to enter a brutal portion of the 2025 schedule.
(Milwaukee, WI) — At least one NBA analyst thinks the Bucks could be better off without future Hall of Fame guard Damian Lillard. The team will miss his scoring, but Lillard – despite his hustle – wasn’t big enough to stop some of the bigger NBA guards. Eric Nehm of The Athletic thinks Milwaukee will be a better defensive team with Myles Turner protecting the rim. Guards like Kevin Porter Junior, Ryan Rollins, and Cole Anthony have the ability to improve the backcourt defensive production. They won’t be able to equal Lillard’s scoring.
