ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — First baseman Rhys Hoskins was reinstated by the Milwaukee Brewers before Tuesday night’s game at Texas after missing 57 games with a sprained left thumb. “Ready to join these guys, try to help finish this thing strong,” Hoskins said before the game. With Andrew Vaughn starting at first as he has during Hoskins’ absence, Hoskins appeared as a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning with a runner on first base and two out, the Brewers trailing the Rangers 5-3. Hoskins broke his bat and went down to his right knee on a 3-2 pitch that was up and in, fouling out to catcher Jonah Heim.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Kyle Hendricks threw seven shutout innings, Chris Taylor and Yoán Moncada hit three-run homers, and the Los Angeles Angels scored all of their runs with two outs in a 12-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night. Hendricks (7-9) gave up four hits, struck out six and walked one in his best start of the season, throwing 58 of 80 pitches for strikes. Right-hander Zabby Matthews (4-5) took the loss, giving up five runs and seven hits in 4 ⅔ innings. The Angels had 17 hits and went 8 for 17 with runners in scoring position.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Kelsey Mitchell scored 18 points and the Indiana Fever wrapped up the regular season with an 83-72 win Tuesday night over the league-leading Minnesota Lynx, who were resting MVP candidate Napheesa Collier. Indiana (24-20) scored the first 10 points of the game and led by as many as 24, an impressive performance without star Caitlin Clark, who has only played 13 games this season and will not play in the playoffs that begin Sunday. Odyssey Sims scored 15 points for the Fever, who set a franchise record for most wins in a season. Aliyah Boston had 12 points and eight rebounds.
(Green Bay, WI) — The status of two Green Bay offensive linemen will be a game-time decision, according to coaches. Right tackle Zack Tom and left guard Aaron Banks were knocked out of the Lions game with injuries Sunday. The short week means the Packers aren’t practicing much – just classroom work and walkthroughs. Green Bay will host what is called a “Winter Warning” whiteout game against the Washington Commanders Thursday. The team will wear their all-white uniforms, including helmets.

Senior Carolina Harvey was named preseason Player of the Year, and freshman Adela Sapovalivova of the Badgers was named preseason Rookie of the Year. The Minnesota Golden Gophers and Ohio State Buckeyes tied for second in the poll.
