MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WRN) — The candidates for Wisconsin Supreme Court debate.
WISN political reporters Matt Smith and Gerron Jordan moderated Wednesday’s briskly paced hour-long debate at Marquette Law School.
Dane County Judge Susan Crawford on her opponent: “My opponent, Brad Schimel, has always been about politics, partisanship and special interests.”
Waukesha County Judge Brad Schimel on the court’s current liberal majority:
“After I watched what happened in 2023, when the court threw away objectivity and began going through a political agenda, I resolved to get in this race.”
The candidates debated issues including the state’s 1849 abortion ban which is currently before the court, and whether they’d recuse from cases that could come before the court in the future.
