BALSAM LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — A UTV collided with a Polk County Sheriff’s Office squad car early Sunday morning.

The department said a deputy and K9 were on patrol and driving south on Highway 35, south of Dresser, around 1:20 a.m., when a UTV struck the driver’s side of the squad. The UTV fled.

The deputy and the K9 were not injured, but the squad sustained major damage. The UTV driver and rider were located later.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and hit on run. The driver’s name was not released.
