MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Democrats in the Wisconsin Assembly propose an Economic Bill of Rights.

It’s a resolution similar one the legislature’s minority party has proposed for the past several years.

Madison Democrat Francesca Hong said she’s reached out to Republicans:

“I have. And I was disappointed there was not interest,” Hong said. “Because I think we all represent Republicans, Democrats, folks in between, and we know that this is what all of them deserve.”

Democrats announced their resolution last week, and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said he hadn’t been approached.

“You would think maybe they would have reached out to the Republicans and say, ’hey, we have some ideas.’ Has anybody met with you?” Vos said. “How about the chair of the Finance Committee? Nope. Nope. OK.”

The Democrats’ resolution codifies rights related to employment and collective bargaining, public education and childcare and a clean, sustainable environment among others.
