RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — The Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, officially kick off today.

Some Olympians with local connections include Ben Loomis, from Eau Claire, who is competing in Men’s Nordic Combined skiing. And Jessie Diggins, from Stillwater, who is competing in all six Womens Cross-Country ski races.

If you’re feeling the Olympic spirit, the Rice Lake Curling Club is hosting learn to curl and Olympic games watch parties. The learn to curl events are Saturdays, Feb. 7, 14 and 21, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., for ages 12 and up. Watch parties are Friday, Feb. 13, from 6 until 10 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 14, from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

The Winter Games opening ceremony starts today, at 1 p.m., central time.
