MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Report cards for Wisconsin’s public and choice schools were released Tuesday.
The Department of Public Instruction’s findings show 94% of the state’s school districts meeting or exceeding expectations. While 29 districts received a five-star rating by significantly exceeding expectations, most rated four or three stars, either exceeding or meeting expectations. 23 districts received a two-star rating, meeting few expectations. Quinton Klabon from the Institute for Reforming Government tells Fox 6 Milwaukee he has a point of contention about the results.
“DPI is too easy a grader. For instance, there’s not a single one-star district in all of Wisconsin. And I think everybody can think of a few districts in Wisconsin that fail to meet expectations,” Klabon said.
This year, State Superintendent Jill Underly rolled out new benchmarks spelling out how school districts achieve the different star ratings.
