MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — The Wisconsin Department of Justice releases human trafficking data.

January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month and according to data provided by the National Human Trafficking Hotline, in 2024 the hotline received 277 contacts in Wisconsin. The NHTH reports 111 cases were opened in 2024 in Wisconsin involving 181 victims. The majority of cases reported were sex trafficking of adult women.

According to NHTH, venues for sex trafficking in Wisconsin included illicit massage or spa businesses, hotels and motels and residences. Venues for labor trafficking included restaurants and food service, domestic work and hospitality.
