MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Wisconsin voters needn’t be put off by President Trump’s latest executive order.

Trump’s executive action requires providing proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections

“The election on April 1st in Wisconsin for the Supreme Court for the Department of Public Instruction, and many, many local races is a state election. It’s not a federal election,” said Jay Heck.

Heck with Common Cause in Wisconsin says the timing seems designed to muddy the waters prior to the state Supreme Court election.

“The intent is to sow confusion, I think, and to create some kind of discord and controversy when there really isn’t any,” Heck said.

Trump is also demanding that all ballots be received by Election Day. Ballots received later than that are not counted in Wisconsin.
