CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WJMC) — Fourteen dogs have been rescued and removed from the home of a woman who now faces multiple animal abuse and neglect charges.

Chippewa Falls Police said 22-year-old Hannah E. Swanson, was arrested December 1 with 35 counts of failing to provide proper shelter to animals, failure to provide proper ventilation and animal mistreatment. A tip led to a search warrant at Swanson’s apartment, where police said they found 14 dogs living in unsanitary conditions, with some crammed two to a kennel and some without food or water.

Veterinarians checked out the dogs. They are now under the care of the Chippewa County Humane Society and may be put up for adoption at a later time.

Swanson also faces similar animal neglect citations in Eau Claire County from earlier this fall.
