(Milwaukee, WI) — Jacob Misiorowski didn’t start the game, but he got the win with five strong innings in relief during Sunday’s 11-2 victory. Misiorowski struck out a dozen batters and gave up just one hit – a home run. Milwaukee’s 14-hit attack included Andrew Vaughn’s fourth homer of the season. Brandon Sproat takes the mound tonight (Monday) as the Brewers open a three-game series in San Francisco against the Giants.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers have designated pitcher Lance McCullers less than two weeks after acquiring the veteran right-hander from the Houston Astros. The Brewers have recalled right-handed pitcher Garrett Stallings from Triple-A Nashville. The moves come a day after McCullers walked four batters in 1 2/3 innings of relief in an 8-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies. McCullers was adapting to a bullpen role in Milwaukee after starting in 148 of his 154 career outings with Houston. The 32-year-old had spent his entire major league career with the Astros until Milwaukee acquired him on July 15.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Ryan Jeffers went 3 for 5 with three RBIs, Connor Prielipp threw 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball in his return from the injured list and the Minnesota Twins beat the Athletics 11-8 in the rubber match of a three-game series. Kody Clemens was 3 for 5 with two triples and an RBI, and Ryan Kreidler doubled three times and drove in a run for the Twins. Prielipp allowed two hits and struck out five. Nick Kurtz hit a three-run homer for the Athletics in the sixth. Tyler Soderstrom went 2 for 3 with a double and Tommy White had two hits. Kreidler doubled leading off the fourth, stole third base and scored on a throwing error by catcher Jonah Heim to push the lead to 7-0.
(Green Bay, WI) — Packers president and CEO Ed Policy says the franchise will focus on holding more major events at Lambeau Field to create revenue streams. College football and soccer games could also help the publicly-held team compete with the 31 privately-held franchises in the NFL. WGBA-TV reports that Policy says those extra events are “great for the community and for the regional and local economy.” He says two recent concerts brought an estimate 93 thousand people to Titletown. Badgers football will open the 2026 college season at Lambeau against Notre Dame next month.
(Milwaukee, WI) — The Bucks front office likes what it sees from its two picks in the 2026 NBA Draft. Point guard Brayden Burries was named to the All-Summer League team after averaging 23 points a game. Six-10 forward Nate Ament from Tennessee wasn’t as impressive, but was efficient whle averaging 11 points and almost five rebounds per game. An unnamed team executive told Spotrac-dot-com that Ament is a guy expected to “improve a lot during his first couple of years in the league.”
(Madison, WI) — Depth on the defensive line took a hit when sophomore Torin Pettaway left the team last week. Pettaway was a three-star recruit from Middleton. The reason for his departure hasn’t been revealed but it was the player’s choice. Badgers Extra reports that Pettaway didn’t get any snaps on defense as a freshman and that wasn’t expected to change in 2026. He was still in the development phase of his college career.
BLAINE, Minn. (AP) — Jackson Koivun won the 3M Open by three strokes in only his third start as a professional by holding off Scottie Scheffler with a closing 5-under 66 for a tournament-record 25-under 259 total. Koivun went bogey-free for the second straight day after a 61 on Saturday gave him a three-shot cushion. The 21-year-old player led Auburn to the NCAA championship last month. Scheffler surged into contention with a 63 while playing five groups ahead of Koivun. The world’s top-ranked player had his fifth runner-up finish this season. His lone win this year came at The American Express in California.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Corey Heim passed team co-owner Denny Hamlin on the final restart Sunday then held off the hard-charging cars of Christopher Bell and Joey Logano to capture his first Brickyard 400 crown. The 24-year-old has won twice this season, even though he won’t be driving full-time in NASCAR’s Cup series until next season. He’s the first Cup driver to win twice in his first 15 career starts since A.J. Foyt in 1965. Heim did it this time with a daring outside move to overtake Hamlin, then leading the final 35 laps and holding off Bell by 0.287 seconds on Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s historic 2.5-mile oval. Logano, last week’s winner, finished third, 0.972 seconds behind, again keeping team owner Roger Penske out of victory lane.

Rice Lake WI, July 25 – Dylan Nelson from Merifield Minnesota started seventh and after a pitched battle with fellow Brainerd Lakes Minnesota driver Tim Johnson, drove away to lead the last five laps and win the Fast Lane Motorsports Northland Super Stock Series race Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway in the highlight feature race on a steamy Saturday night.
In other feature race action, Blake Adams shook off some recent struggles to score a double win as the Cameron driver won both of the open wheel class features with wins in both the Midwest Modified and Modified main events. Mark Barta was the Pure Stock feature winner and in the final tuneup for the Street Stock Little Dream race this coming Tuesday night, Parker Anderson from Phillips topped a big field of drivers as he put the other drivers on notice that he will be a factor on Tuesday.
Thirty two Super Stock drivers from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ontario signed in to race on Saturday night with the fastest twenty six starting the thirty lap feature race. Tristan LaBarge from Minnesota’s Iron Range grabbed the early lead from the pole position with Jeff Eisner Jr and Alex Myers close behind. However, LaBarge’s biggest challenge would be from former Rice Lake resident Shane Kisling, who now calls Butternut home. Kisling moved to the cushion on the track and had immediate success as he closed in on LaBarge and on lap seven drove past him to take over the lead.
The race started with an extended period of green flag racing with the first eighteen laps clicking off under the green. As Kisling continued to lead, another challenger appeared and that was Johnson, who had started fifth.
He found a new fast groove on the inside of the track and began to move forward, soon pulling up to the rear bumper of Kisling’s car as Shane continued to work the outside line. Johnson was getting strong runs off the low groove in the corners and on lap fourteen he shot past Kisling to take over the lead.
Johnson then began to edge away from the field and he looked to be a strong contender to take the win. However, Nelson began to move up from the fourth row as the race remained under the green and by the halfway point of the contest was up to third, trailing only Johnson and Kisling.
The first yellow of the race flew with nineteen laps completed for a two car tangle on the back chute and this gave Nelson the opportunity to move up beside Kisling for the restart and indeed, he quickly drove past into the second position and began to challenge Johnson for the lead.
But Johnson is a seasoned veteran and one of the hardest drivers on the circuit and between yellows, which began to fly more often for spins and stalled cars, some of the most intense racing of the evening occurred with Johnson using every inch of the track in an effort to keep Nelson behind him.
Finally, with a breathtaking move out of turn four with both drivers drifting dangerously close to the concrete outer wall, Nelson was able to squeeze past and take over the lead.
Two more yellows would fly before the race was concluded but with Nelson now in front, Johnson tried his best but could not muster a challenge to the leader. A last yellow set up a two lap sprint to the finish but Nelson would once again pull away and drive unchallenged for the win over Johnson. Kisling finished off an excellent run with a third place finish and Eisner Jr. also drove a solid race to come home fourth. Tommy Richards, from the famous Richards family of racers from Mondovi, made his first start of the year a good one as he rounded out the top five.
Nelson earned two thousand dollars for his win and along with another victory on Friday night at the Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, it was a very successful weekend for the Minnesota driver. It was also Nelson’s first ever feature win at Rice Lake. Al Cleveland won the Long Tow award as he drove to the track from Breckenridge Minnesota while Rice Lake regular Ryan Olson won the Hard Charger award, having raced from fifteenth to sixth in the feature.
Adams was a double winner, earning two badly needed wins in his quest to win WISSOTA national titles in both the Modified and Midwest Modified divisions. And while it was a time to celebrate for Adams, it was just as much heartbreak for Rice Lake racer Aiden Hoffman who was just two laps short of winning his first ever Modified feature when a late yellow flag disrupted his chances.
Hoffman had gotten the jump on Mike Goodremote to take the early lead with Mike Anderson moving into second as both Matt Leer and Adams chased those two.
This race remained under the green flag for most of the race with Hoffman setting a torrid pace that none of the three chasing him could match. Anderson had bad luck when a slower driver got in front of him and lost control with the two cars slamming together but both continued on with Anderson losing two spots before he could get back up to speed.
Hoffman still looked to be comfortably in front, even though both Leer and Adams were shortening up his lead. However, a stalled driver with just two laps to go made all the difference in the race and spelled doom for Hoffman.
With both Leer and Adams side by side behind him, Hoffman got a bad restart and spun his tires and before he knew it, the leaders were three wide driving into turn one. Adams was able to slide up the track in front of Hoffman and then turn down the hill and hold off Leer and just like that, Hoffman’s bid for his first ever Modified win was history.
Adams then drove on for his fifth Modified victory of the year at Rice Lake with Leer second and Hoffman settling for third. At the line, Kennedy Swan nipped Anderson to complete the top five.
The Midwest Modified feature win proved to be just a bit easier although Adams still had to fight his way into the top spot. Dave Baxter started on the pole but Antonio Pintaro got a great jump and took the early lead with Adams sliding past Baxter to take over second. Adams worked Pintaro over and on lap four was able to drive past him and take over the top spot.
With the first fourteen laps of this race going green, Adams was then able to put distance on the pack before a spinning driver stopped the action. Baxter pushed hard on the restart but Adams fought him off and then put some distance on the field once again, with the final five laps becoming a sprint to the finish. Adams had the race under control as he crossed the line in first for his sixth Midwest Modified feature win of the year at the track. Baxter had another in a recent series of strong finishes as he came home secomd with Joe Swearingen also having a strong run for third. Brady Larson and Joey Jensen completed the top five in a race that saw only one driver not finish.
A large and talented field of Street Stock drivers signed in to race on Saturday as they used this race as a final tune up for Tuesday night’s Little Dream with several new drivers on hand plus some new driver combinations in anticipation of next week.
Cole Richards took the early lead with Cody Cimfl, Anderson and Hunter VanGilder among his early challengers as the lead pack of at least six drivers battled each other hard. Cimfl was up beside Richards several times but could not quite make the pass for the lead. Later Cimfl would drop out with mechanical issues but it was Anderson that made the decisive move.
Parker was able to work to the outside line after starting on the inside lane and once he got to the cushion, he showed tremendous speed as he pulled up beside Richards and then drove right past him for the lead. This happened on lap six and after that, the field was chasing the Phillips driver.
A late yellow set up a four lap dash to the finish but Anderson had the field covered as he drove away and put distance on runner up Shawn Amundson to claim his third feature win of the year at the track. Richards finished a strong third with VanGilder and Tommy Richards, making his first Street Stock run of the year, next in line.
The Pure Stocks wrapped up the evening with a smooth and fast feature race with Mark Barta driving an excellent race to hold off some very fast drivers and claim his second feature win of the year. Tyler Wahlstrom took the early lead with Barta moving into second while Simon Wahlstrom and George Richards battled for third, running a number of laps side by side.
Barta tried the low line but when Tyler Wahlstrom continued to guard that groove, Barta moved up the track and with a very strong move, drove around Tyler to take over the lead on lap three. And once in front, Barta was not about to be caught. With the race going green to checkers, the top drivers raced around the track but everyone was fast and catching and passing proved to be a tough task.
Barta continued to hold a slight advantage over Tyler Wahlstrom and the lead remained as Mark drove across the line for the win. Simon Wahlstrom won out in his battle for third with Richards while C.J. Wagner completed the top five.
Everything is now in readiness for Tuesday night, July 28th when the thirty second annual St. Croix Casino Street Stock Little Dream race will be held at the speedway. A record sixty eight drivers from several states and Canada have preentered for the event with even more expected at race time.
Once again the fans, both those in person and those on line, will be instumental in the sucess of this event that has become famous for its unique structure with donations from the crowd on hand plus those watching driving up the purse which has been greatly boosted back in the pack by the St. Croix Casino sponsorship.
Last year’s winner Kyle Dykhoff from Perham Minnesota went home with $30,100 for his forty lap feature win and the hope is to again increase that figure, thus again setting a new record payoff.
Pit gates open at 4 pm on July 28th with the grandstand also opening at that time. Race time is 7 pm but fans are invited to arrive early and enjoy the activities going on plus the first five hundred will receive a swag bag from the St. Croix Casino. The rain date for this event is Wednesday night, July 29th.
Following this event, the next race at the track will be on Saturday night, August 8th for another highly anticipated event. For the first time in two years, the WISSOTA Late Models will be racing at the speedway as the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series will be running at the track. Part of the Challenge Series schedule, the Late Models will be racing for a top prize of four thousand dollars plus the other four classes that routinely race will also be running a full program.
