RICE LAKE, Wis. (WRN) — Air quality pollution levels remained elevated in the area overnight and this morning for the Northern Wisconsin.
In Rice Lake, air quality index values remained above 600, more than double the level considered “Hazardous” were people should stay indoors and reduce activity level, especially older adults, children and those with heart or lung disease.
The DNR’s Craig Czarnecki says an advisory has been issued statewide.
“This is a pretty significant wildfire event. We had not seen hazardous air quality index levels that I can remember here. So this is really something to take seriously, be avoiding any kind of outdoor physical activity, and people should really be spending time indoors during this advisory,” Czarnecki said.
Today’s forecast shows AQI levels 150 to 200, still considered “Unhealthy.” Saturday’s forecast show levels 200 to 300, considered “Very Unhealthy.”
