(Milwaukee, WI) — The NBA is going to investigate the four-year, 64-million-dollar contract extension the Bucks have signed with veteran guard Gary Trent Junior. Trent is coming off the worst season of his career, and experts say he normally would have signed a minimum or near-minimum deal. CBS Sports reports accusations that the money is payback for the player’s last two contracts that were well below normal. Milwaukee has never been penalized for circumventing NBA cap rules, but it has for violations of free agency rules.

(Milwaukee, WI) — Major League Baseball has released the 2027 regular season schedule – assuming players aren’t locked out by then. The Brewers would begin the season at home against the Los Angeles Angels. After that series, the Atlanta Braves would visit, then Milwaukee would depart on a six-game road trip, according to Brewer Fanatic-dot-com. Next season would open with an April 24th single game between the San Francisco Giants and the New York Yankees. That’s the earliest opening date in league history.
The Brewers get back to action after the All-Star break tonight against Miami. Pregame at 6:05pm. First pitch at 6:40pm on AM1240 & 96.5FM

(Green Bay, WI) — NFL front office executives, scouts, and coaches say Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper is among the top 10 players at his position. ESPN reports that Cooper checks in at number nine. The third-year backer has produced 205 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hits, eight pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and an interception in his first 30 games. At least one NFL defensive coach points to his size, speed, and run-and-hit ability, saying few players can match his ability. Cooper is just 24 years old.

Myles Garrett has been the NFL’s dominant defensive player for years, leading to his record-setting campaign with 23 sacks last season before being traded from Cleveland to the Los Angeles Rams. Garrett’s performance helped him earn the honor of being named the top off-ball linebacker in the NFL by The Associated Press. Garrett got all eight first-place votes from AP Pro Football Writers. Green Bay’s Micah Parsons, Houston’s Will Anderson Jr., Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt and Detroit’s Aidan Hutchinson rounded out the top five.

(Madison, WI) — Recruiting efforts by the Wisconsin football coaches have earned a commitment from four-star linebacker prospect Cale Britt. 247Sports reports that Britt is the first commitment for the recruiting class of 2028. He was offered a scholarship during an April visit to Madison. Following that, he made recruiting stops at Notre Dame, Alabama, and Virginia Tech. Britt is quoted as saying Wisconsin, “Just felt like home.” He says he kept thinking about the Badgers while he was making the other visits, and he decided – “Why wait?”

Lionel Messi has a message for Argentina’s detractors: “Nothing was handed to us.” The Argentina superstar responded to critics who have been bashing the reigning World Cup champions over perceptions of beneficial officiating and favoritism by the soccer establishment. He says the team’s ability to overturn late-game deficits, most recently the semifinal victory over England, is the result of championship pedigree and nothing more. After trailing 1-0 going into the 85th minute, Argentina rallied for a 2-1 win over England on Wednesday to reach the World Cup final. Argentina earlier survived by beating Cape Verde and Switzerland in extra time, and rallied for an improbable 3-2 victory over Egypt.
