BARRON, Wis. A benefit meal is tonight at Rolling Oaks for a Barron man who died in a tragic accident earlier this month.
36-year-old Devern Bender is survived by a wife and five young children. Between 4 and 9 p.m. this evening, Rolling Oaks is donating half of the sales from the evening’s menu to Bender’s family.
Bender was delivering and unloading a shed from a trailer when he and the woman receiving the shed were both struck and killed by an SUV, south of Superior on July 7.
A GoFundMe, “Support for the Devern Bender Family” has raised more than $155,000 toward a goal of $170,000.
