SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Brice Turang had three hits and two RBIs as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Francisco Giants 8-2 behind Logan Henderson. Brewers rookie Luis Lara knocked in three runs and Jackson Chourio added two hits and two RBIs to help the NL Central leaders end a four-game road skid. Henderson had seven strikeouts and allowed two hits in 5 2/3 scoreless innings to win his first career start against San Francisco. Bryce Eldridge hit his 11th home run for the Giants, a two-run shot that made it 8-2 in the eighth. All nine Brewers starters had at least one hit as they finished with 13.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Jake Bauers has a broken big toe on his right foot. He was not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the San Francisco Giants. Bauers was injured when he fouled a ball off his foot during Monday’s 3-0 loss to the Giants. An X-ray initially revealed a fracture line in Bauers’ toe before additional testing Tuesday revealed the extent of the injury. Bauers said he was relieved to learn it wasn’t a new injury. The Brewers have not set a timetable for his return.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Royce Lewis hit a two-run triple with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Minnesota Twins a 3-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Taj Bradley threw six strong innings for the Twins, who have won three in a row and five of six. They are third in the AL Cental, just two games behind the first-place Chicago White Sox. Kody Clemens doubled for Minnesota in the fourth and scored on Josh Bell’s single. But center fielder Byron Buxton left in the fifth with right hip soreness after running to first base. It’s the same joint that caused him to miss the All-Star Game this month.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Rookie Olivia Miles scored 24 points and the Minnesota Lynx extended their winning streak to eight games with a 100-93 victory over the Toronto Tempo. Miles shot 9 for 17 with four 3-pointers for Minnesota (23-6), which owns the best record in the WNBA. She added eight assists and six rebounds. Kayla McBride scored 18 with four 3-pointers for the Lynx, who were 14 for 25 (56%) from distance. Napheesa Collier had 15 points and Natasha Howard scored 13. Reserve Antonia Delaere scored 12 on 4-for-5 shooting from distance. Marina Mabrey had 25 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Toronto (10-17), which has lost four straight and eight of its last nine.
(Green Bay, WI) — The Packers cut two players and added two the day before training camp opens. The first public practice is this (Wednesday) morning at 10:30 a-m. Edge rusher Dante Barnett and kicker Lucas Havrisik were released Tuesday. They were replaced on the roster by tight end Thomas Yassmin and kicker Lenny Krieg. Yassmin played 13 snaps with the Chargers last season and Krieg takes on rookie kicker Trey Smack for that job.
EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have suspended defensive backs coach Gerald Alexander for three weeks without pay following a drunken driving charge for an incident in April. Alexander’s suspension will be in effect until Aug. 13. That’s two days before their first preseason game. Hennepin County court records show Alexander pled guilty July 16 to a gross misdemeanor charge of third degree driving while impaired. He was arrested at about 4 a.m. on April 26 after his vehicle was stopped in the middle of an intersection in a Minneapolis suburb. A police officer found him unresponsive and witnessed him failing field sobriety tests.
LATROBE, Pa. (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers says there’s “zero debate” that this season will be his last. The four-time MVP’s status beyond 2026 is one of the few certainties for the Steelers as training camp begins. They have a new head coach, Mike McCarthy, who brings fresh ideas to the team. The team will practice earlier in the day and tackling will be limited. Pittsburgh will begin camp with defensive backs Joey Porter Jr. and Jalen Ramsey on the physically unable to perform list.
(Madison, WI) — The Badgers updated roster for the 2026 college football season reveals that three players have left the program. The roster was released Tuesday. Sports Illustrated reports that cornerbacks Remington Moss and Jahmare Washington and defensive lineman Torin Pettaway are no longer on the team. None of the three were expected to start. Washington and Moss were 3-star prospects coming out of high school and all three were part of the recruiting class of 2025.
(Portland, OR) — Former Badgers star John Tonje has signed a two-way contract with the Portland Trail Blazers. Tonje was taken in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. The Jazz traded him to Boston for a second-round pick and he played six games for the Celtics during the regular season. ESPN reported on Tonje’s new deal last weekend.
