HAUGEN, Wis. (NWN) — A motorcycle crash on Highway 53 near Haugen left one man in critical condition on Sunday afternoon.

The state patrol said a 43-year-old Sarona man was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling south on Highway 53 near Long Lake Avenue, just before 3:20 p.m. The bike struck the rear left corner of another vehicle, lost control and crashed in the median.

The rider had lifethreatening injuries, and he was transported to Spooner Hospital before being airlifted to Duluth. Authorities said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which was under investigation by the state patrol.

The man’s name was withheld, pending family notification.
