MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — A pre-election poll of primary voters released Friday finds Madison Democratic Socialist Francesca Hong with a 22-point lead in the Democratic primary for governor.
Mary Radcliffe with State Navigate says Hong’s does best with those who’ve not voted in any of the last four primaries – where she leads by 50 points.
“So she’s really relying on voters who don’t typically show up to the polls to come out and support her. Now, to be fair, she does lead with all of these groups to some extent or another, but that big wide lead is driven by people who don’t typically vote,” Radcliffe said.
The poll found 67 percent of those preferring Hong say they’re “definitely” voting for her, while just 44 percent of those picking any of the other candidates are definite. Tuesday’s primary also includes Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, state Senator Kelda Roys and former Tony Evers cabinet secretary Joel Brennan.
