BLOOMER, Wis. (NWN) — A suspect is in custody following an armed burglary at a Bloomer residence Friday evening.
Bloomer Police Chief Mark McElroy said a resident reported a man breaking into a house and firing shots with a rifle, with the residents escaping the home safely. Police responded, met with the victims and cleared the house, finding the front doors damaged. Home security cameras showed the man had a rifle, but there were no signs of shots being fired at the home. Police said the burglary was a targeted attack and an isolated incident and the suspect was known to the victims.
The suspect was tracked to a residence south of Bruce. He was taken into custody without incident Saturday afternoon and booked into the Chippewa County Jail.
The incident was under investigation. The suspect has not been named at this time as formal charges are pending.
