Wisconsin Consumer Protection is monitoring online app stores after a fake copy of the Wisconsin Food Share app showed up. Administrator Michelle Reinen says they were alerted by the Department of Health Services.

“Scammers recently launched a fake version of the Wisconsin Foodshare mobile app called EBT Edge, and that fraudulently charges users $4.99 per week or $60.00 for the lifetime access,” Reinen said.

The actual app is there to help people navigate their food benefits and is entirely free. If you encountered the fake app or paid the scammers, contact Consumer Protection at 800-422-7128.
